This reminded me of when Geraldo opened Al Capone's vault.

Well, at least, this proved that President Trump paid a higher tax rate than obama or Bernie. I love it! Here's yet another one all the liberals can shove squarely up their collective asses.

When a 'Potentially Historic' Scoop Is Exposed as Fake News: Trump Tax Story An Epic Fail for Rachel Maddow and MSNBC

    March 15, 2017

Tuesday night’s release by MSNBC Anchor Rachel Maddow of President Donald Trump’s tax returns felt like a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out … in mockery.

Maddow’s “historically unprecedented” and “potentially historic” release of the top two pages of the 2005 Trump taxes revealed that Trump paid $38 million in taxes that year. The event was a disaster not seen on TV since the last “Star Wars” rerun showing the Death Star blowing up Alderaan.

Maddow unwittingly disproved Hillary Clinton’s 2016 claim that Trump might have paid no taxes. Trump’s $38 million tax hit was more tax than 672 households earned in the entire 2016. Drudge summed up the math: “TRUMP PAID HIGHER TAX RATE [25%] THAN MSNBC COMCAST [24%]... MUCH HIGHER THAN OBAMA [19%]... AND BERNIE [13%]!”

Maddow was skewered by conservatives and liberals for the needless hype and by journalists who claimed she had damaged the profession. The Washington Post’s liberal blog The Fix called the reveal “a total nothingburger” and conservative National Review Online Editor Charles C. W. Cooke‏ commented that he never again wants “to see a televised suicide.” Mediaite bashed Maddow for having, “Just Trolled Us All For Ratings.”

It was nearly as big of a disaster for journalists who had been singing Maddow’s praises based on her recent ratings boom. Maddow was celebrated across the news media -- The New York Times, Washington Post, and Huffington Post all featured articles on her ratings rise. Hollywood Reporter called her, “MSNBC's star player” and HuffPo noted how dropping coverage of Trump’s Twitter comments, “has only helped grow her sphere of influence.”

That all went into the trash can in an Oscar fail/Steve Harvey and Miss Universe mistake kind of way that will be remembered for years. Even Maddow’s biggest supporters lamented how the broadcast was either over-promised or it ended up being a tool of Trump’s P.R. machine.

The rest of Tuesday night was divided between ways to mock Maddow and her MSNBC bosses and trying to find someone -- anyone other than her -- to blame for the disaster.

Liar, liar, Trump only paid $36.5 million in taxes. The White House said $38 million, which Maddow says includes payroll taxes. Trump didn't pay payroll taxes, his employees did.

OK, I really want someone to answer this for me: Do all Socialists pay a lower tax rate than Capitalists? President Trump paid a much higher rate than either obama or Sanders. Why? Like Rand Paul, I'd like to know if obama or Sanders will be mailing an additional check to the IRS. Anyone?

Paul Calls Out Bernie Sanders' Tax Rate After Leak of Trump's 2005 Return

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) talked with Bill Hemmer this morning about the release by MSNBC of a few pages of President Trump's 2005 tax return.

The tax documents showed Trump made $153 million in 2005 and paid $36.5 million in income taxes ($38 million in total taxes).

The big reveal was touted by Rachel Maddow on Twitter before her show, but the documents were far from a bombshell.

The president later blasted the report as "fake news," and Paul agreed, questioning why this leak was touted by the left.

And he added that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) paid an effective tax rate of 13.5 percent a few years ago, far below Trump's 2005 rate of 25 percent.

"Since Senator Sanders is such a good socialist, I think he'd want to pay his fair share. I'm expecting news any day that he's gonna send a couple hundred thousand into the IRS so he can pay his fair share," said Paul.

Trump has steadfastly refused to release his full tax returns since beginning his presidential campaign, a departure from his modern-day White House predecessors.

Watch the full interview above, as Sen. Paul also discusses his opposition to "Trumpcare."

I predicted scotty would fall for this, most likely intentionally leaked by trump, talking point. The comparison was also expected, and it is flawed.

The data for trump is from 2005, not 2016. The year matters, as the amount of taxes the orange-faced goon paid has certainly changed over the years. For example, in the 1970s, trump paid little, if any taxes.

It's also important to note that the release lacked details such as where his income came from. This detail is especially relevant given the accusations that trump has business ties to foreign entities, as well as foreign governments. That sort of information is normally revealed in order to confirm whether or not a President is engaging in illegal activities against the U.S., as trump has been accused of.

It's suspicious that trump is hiding that information, and is engaging with foreign governments over the rights to produce and sell his merchandise in those countries.

I never said Trump didn't pay taxes but all we really know is he paid taxes in 2005. And by the way dumb ass....

You stupid idiot. Of course it's from 2005 and not 2016! Who said anything about 2016??? Are you even paying attention?

Now, back to the topic... Are you somehow disputing that he paid a lower rate than his contemporaries or, for that matter, a lower rate than obama or Bernie? No, of course you aren't because, if you did, you wouldn't have a leg to stand on. It's plain to see that he paid a much higher rate. So, what's your problem? He paid his taxes.

Yeah. He paid a HELLUVA lot of taxes, at that!!! More just in taxes than probably you and I together have earned in our entire lifetimes! He's a successful businessman (and, now, a successful politician - but that's beside the point) who paid his taxes. What are you yammering about?

Again, the year matters, if you are comparing one person's income tax rate to another's. This is because the tax code is changed every year. I understand why you wouldn't know this, as you are ignorant and have an agenda that does not accept any information that does not generate a positive reinforcement of your biased beliefs.

Obama's taxable income for 2005 was $1,542.698 and he owed $430,867 in taxes that year, or a tax rate of 27.9 %, which is comparable to trump's for that year. While Obama's tax rate in 2015 was a reported 19%, that was not true in 2005, hence the relevance of comparing taxes by year instead of selectively picking one year versus another year.

In comparison, trump had an effective tax rate of 24.5 % in 2005 and Obama had a 27.9 % tax rate. For those of you who suffer from so-called conservative republican disease, that means trump paid less taxes, as a percentage, than Obama did in 2005. In other words, it's plain to see that Obama had a higher tax rate.

So, what is trump's tax rate in 2014 and 2015, the years relevant to a comparison between Sanders' return (in 2014) and Obama's (in 2015)?

As demonstrated above, if we are to compare tax rates, it's necessary to have the same year's tax returns, so let's see trump's tax returns from those years and then we can compare 'em to Sanders' and Obama's. :)

During the campaign, and based on a partial return from the 90's, the idiots on the left (and here) all claimed President Trump paid no taxes. Well, guess what? YOU WERE WRONG!!
Maddow made herself, her network & her party look like fools....and she obviously played the useful idiots like a violin.

She was on the Tonight Show last night and clearly stated this partial return contained ZERO insight into President Trump's financials yet she continued to speculate while the loony left got all lathered up.
    Idiots!

BTW Obama gave 15% of his income to charity. So his actual tax rate was 35% not 20%. Another stupid Reich-wing lie debunked.
No we didn't. Everyone said that it was entirely possible that Trump paid no taxes in the 1990's and I have yet to see any proof that he did.
