It always comes down to an opinion on how money is collected and spent by governments. In the US, republicans want lower taxes and less social programs. Although some cite an able-bodied person sucking off the government teat as their excuse to reduce taxes and social programs, they ignore the harm caused to the numerous ill and disabled people that is caused by such selfish beliefs...until they themselves find themselves in need.

 

I do not know of a single Republican who ignores the " ill and disabled". On the other hand, there are studies (by the government) showing as much as 30% of some programs are wasted and/or fraud.

A lot of the fraud I've seen is by wealthy doctors making false claims, not poor people. When those people are caught, they get prosecuted. That raises another point, how the hell are they going to be caught if the budgets for investigators and regulators are reduced or eliminated?

That's the thing with you republicans, you can only see one issue at a time, and have great difficulty understanding it, and rarely ever do. You see fraud, yet you fail to see how republican policies have reduced the funding that could detect the fraud. Yet republicans reduce the funding because fraud is mentioned in a report. If you see fraud in a report, why don't you see the calls for more funding for regulators and other investigators? Oh, that's right, because you feel funding is wasteful of "your" $$$.

It always circles back to republicans wanting lower taxes and less funding. They don't understand how less funding harms society, harms themselves, because at their core they are just too damned selfish.

Today, I got blasted by a burst air hose, injuring my eye, and later injured my hand while pounding fence posts in at work. I kept working. I doubt you could have, even when you were not living with a lung provided to you by the government, one you could have paid for with your own $$$.

You have the gall to call me and other conservatives selfish? I've worked 50 hour weeks at my FTJ for 35 years now, and come home to operate a successful part-time business another 24 hours per week, AND pay all of my taxes on BOTH jobs.

The single biggest fraud perpetrated in this country is those collecting benefits for being unemployed, while working under the table to avoid paying taxes on their income. The number of people who do this is staggering . . . I've seen it, and detest it. Anyone who does this has no honor at all . . . NONE. And the worst part of it is that they brag about how well they do . . . they call it "gaming the system". If you do not participate in it, you certainly seem to look the other way.

This is a cancer, and it will destroy this country, but you seem quite content to keep us on our current path.

I have never had unemployment benefits. And yes, I do see people who make a shitload of cash for part of the year taking advantage of the system by receiving unemployment benefits when the $$$ they earned should be more than enough for them to make it through the rest of the year and then some.

 

That may be your bias, or your lack of knowledge. My knowledge shows me that is is a combination of both, but since accept that appearances may not be accurate, I'll also say that I know that most people lack knowledge, and that that is the reason for their biases.

I am not immune to biases myself, and I know that no one is. I do attempt to look at things from several perspectives, in order to have a fuller understanding of an issue or belief, including my own biases.

One bias I have is that I believe most people are too susceptible to pronouncing summary judgements, without sufficient analysis of the subject. As I alluded to earlier, I fail on occasion, but I see most people fail it as a matter of habit. Over time, I learn where most do not.

If you are truly like COKC and non-cents, that should give you plenty to work with. Over the years I've found that I needed to provide them with such things, from time to time, if only to keep them occupied.

Has the concept of time ever entered your pointed head? Computers get replaced, and I never said I went to a library to use one. You never could get work right, I was head of Maintenance over a decade ago, not today, and cars get replaced too. Minor injuries today, thankfully (thanks for asking). My eye is a bit irritated, but it's the one I don't use anyway, and my hand a bit sore, but it's the one I've broken twice before (and the docs refused to do anything about) but I was in no need of seeing a doctor to tell me that, and be charged an insane amount of $$$ to do so.

But, that's what I expect from someone who forges wheat cents for a living. Complete and utter non-cents.
