The second sentence above (beginning "Many factors") is from Wikipedia. You left in the Wikipedia hyperlinks, so one could give a generous interpretation and say that by doing so you were tacitly acknowledging the source.

The third paragraph (beginning "The recession began") is from this blog, but you present it as if it's your own writing.

The final two paragraphs (beginning "The facts are that") are from this site, once again presented as if you wrote them yourself.

The problem, rlm's cents, is that you are not anywhere near as articulate as those whose writing you stole, and we live in a time when a search engine can swiftly expose plagiarism.

 

Blatant ignorance and frequent lapses into the fact-free zone are his real issues. Plagerism is just his hobby.

The part non-cents forgets about sub-prime mortgages is the fact that lenders were allowed to bundle junk policies together and, due to deregulation, were allowed to sell them as "safe" and even "top-rated" commodities to investors.

The fun part about that is, even while everyone else lost $$$, those lenders earned even more $$$, again due to deregulation... and more than just a tab bit of corruption in establishment politics and regulatory institutions.

 

Lenders essentially fleeced America of wealth, legally*.

You may be a proficient plagiarist, but if you think that post is italicized, I suggest you make an appointment with your ophthalmologist, because you might have a serious problem with your eyesight. Maybe in his world, what those mountebanks did was just fine and dandy, so why would anybody complain about it? After all, deregulation is basically a sacred belief for a certain sort of person, and people who point out the disastrous results of deregulation are guilty of a particularly sordid type of blasphemy. It's literally unthinkable. If so, he didn't forget anything--it just never entered his mind in the first place.

It's like the Savings and Loan collapse. When Reagan deregulated the S & L industry, 1,043 out of the 3,234 savings and loan associations in the United States from 1986 to 1995, failed.

Regulations are check on greed. Nothing the Right hates more than having their insatiable greed put in check.

 

They hope that people have forgotten that lesson. In a large part, they have. The constant "push" for deregulating industries, the financial industry in particular, ignores those lessons. As a consequence, we have to keep reminding them of their error...as if they (generally, republicans) all suffer from Alzheimer's.
