I know it may be hard for some to understand the concept of not toeing the party line at all cost, so it may come as a surprise when I say Obama has completely lost his frikin mind by signing this bill. This is by far the worst mistake he has made. Another shocker, this is worse than anything Bush did in my opinion. This is truly a global catastrophe that we won't be able to stop until it's too late. That's pretty bad, but I disagree with the use of the word "mistake". It implies he tried to do something, but failed to accomplish his task. Quite the contrary, I believe he knew EXACTLY what he was doing, knew it was bad, but did it anyway. That's simply perverse, in my opinion. Especially coming from the leader of our nation.

Well, now that you bring up Benghazi, the lives of the people there were just as important and valuable as anyone else's. But, we're going off on a tangent here. Let's try to stay focused.

Who wrote it and made sure that it was a rider on a much more comprehensive piece of legislation? Hum?
Some other interesting things to keep in mind: - The bill was apparently written by freshman Sen. Roy Blunt in collusion with Monsanto, with them helping to craft the exact language of the document. - “The Center for Responsive Politics notes that Sen. Blunt received $64,250 from Monsanto to go towards his campaign committee between 2008 and 2012. The Money Monocle website adds that Blunt has been the largest Republican Party recipient of Monsanto funding as of late.” - Many members of Congress were apparently unaware that the “Monsanto Protection Act” was a part of the spending bill that they were voting on. - Obama had no problem signing it into law (not really a surprise, he’s been rather soft on GMO policy). - The bill will only remain in effect for a limited time, but it’s a bad sign. With the ease that this bill passed, it’ll be interesting to see what future bills look like.
It only applies to GMOs that have been approved and deemed safe to human health and consumption. Judges are not scientist, they are lawyers. Section 733 does not remove the power of the Federal Government from banning the use of GMOs. It just removes this power from the court system and places it with the USDA, FDA etc. and only for previously approved GMOs. I just don't think it's smart to leave the power of banning these GMOs to some lawyer activist Judge sitting in a lower Federal Court. Think about the chaos and havoc such a ruling handed down in August of the calendar year would cause to agriculture and our food supply.
