What are BO's long term plans for US troops in Afghanistan?

From his little performance yesterday, it sure appears BO is planning a open-ended commitment of US troops in Afghanistan after the war is brought to a close.
Isn't this the same sort of statement McCain made? And didn't the hypocrites on the left pounce?

Whats your point? The left can't disagree now? Not everyone is as strictly party lines as you think. I for one disagree with any long term commitment of troops there.

 

But I will bet Mr. RB now agrees with BO!

The lefties, in DC today, march in lock-step with BO's every whim. There's not a one of 'em with the stones to express a contrary view.

 

You may be right, David, though I hope you aren't. That was probably the only reason I voted for Obama was his pledge to 'bring troops home'. For the most part he held to that in Iraq. But the opposite has taken place in Afghanistan.

 

The only reason we didn't keep more troops in Iraq long term was because of the amnesty issue. Had Iraq given in on that one issue, we would have committed troops there for the long haul.

Even the thought of keeping a single troop in Afghanistan past the withdrawal makes me sick. From my time there, I don't think the country or the people are worth it.

They contrast greatly with the everyday Iraqis that I met when I was there who seemed like mostly good people who got a very raw deal. Maybe it is the difference between having had a civilized culture and never having had a culture that rose above the level of warlord.

 

Well, you must certainly be disappointed. There will have been troops in Afghanistan during Obama's entire presidency by the time it ends in 2016.

I am glad that my guy's are pulling out on schedule and feel bloody sorry for the Americans left behind, they should be drawing down numbers now.

 

Obama behaves like Bush more often than not and the Righties here are angered and mystified. They just can't figure out how a Socialist" extremist left-wing radical can hold the views Obama holds on things like state security, and the endless war against "terror". Views that are in line with much of what our former leader believed and similar in many respects to what that senile drooling old idiot John McCain advocates. Could it just maybe be because Obama is not a "Socialist" extremist left-wing radical or even close?
