How did I re-define anything? If the countries I mentioned weren't the countries who make up your "half the world", please tell me which ones I left out?
Ok. Nevermind. I didn't realize communism no longer existed in the precise definition the ear wax eater was clearly stating, which he didn't, but thats beside the fact. In other words, if an ounce of democracy has been introduced, it therefore doesn't count. In which case, there has never been such a thing as communism. I'm relieved you guys settled this.
Don't go away mad... Let's re-cap: Communism failed in Cuba. Communism failed in the Soviet Union. Communism is failing in Venezuela. Communism was failing in China before they allowed Capitalism to become part of the system. What am I missing here?
You're right. But China, whether communism is a watered down version or not, is still communism. Could they have thrived so well under Soviet style communism? No, obviously not. I'm not defending communism by any means. I'm just saying it has worked just as well (and just as poorly) as any other system. Democracy (yes, going back to that) has never proven a success for any length of time, but neither has any form of government. The major flaw in them all is people. Unfortunately I do have to go, though, as work calls. I'll catch up on Friday.
Wrong! Since they have allowed capitalism in, the Chinese have become expert counterfeiters.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Soviet-style Communism" but Communism hasn't worked anywhere ever. I submit China, had it continued as a Communist country, wouldn't be a world power nor would it have an improving middle class (as you claimed). It wasn't until the basic precepts of Communism were abandoned & replaced with Capitalistiic fundamentals that the fortunes of China (and it's people)began to improve.
moron, did you even read the article you posted? "Bijan Dhar, a senior Communist official in Tripura, explained to The Independent newspaper of Britain that the party has succeeded in the state because it has efficiently delivered welfare programs to the residents." The Communists only hold 2 seats & the leader of the party lives in a tin shack & only has $162 in the bank. Thriving?
Oh I'm sorry, are you now changing the definition of Communism again. Just keep changing the parameters of what you ask for and then convince yourself that you are right. We won't believe it but at least you will. What a total moron you are.
Show me where I've defined, let alone re-defined, "Communism". An obscure, impoverished area in India hardly makes your case for Communism.
I can't disagree with what David said. He's absolutely right about capitalism being introduced to China (as I also stated above) as the reason for their resurgence.
Has anyone here actually read the Communist Manifesto? It mostly a rant wanting to return to a pre-industrial state while at the same time claiming that all has been destroyed and so is not possible. It then rants on about a class struggle which we are all too familiar with. The goal of Communism is the elimination of both property and capital. Read the 10 points outlined in the manifesto. In other Marxist writings the end game of Communism is the elimination of government after society has been "reset". You can ask Pol-Pot on what resetting a society involves. http://www.fulltextarchive.com/page/The-Communist-Manifesto/ It is true to a point that all Communist are Socialist, but most Socialist are not Communist. It's like the difference between having the blues and being a manic depressive with a serious bi-polar problem. Even Lenin had to admit that Communism in practice is a failure. At the onset of Soviet rule, Ukrainian farms were turn into state collectives. Shortly thereafter, the Ukraine went from a grain exporter to a dry hole and millions starved to death. Lenin then broke up the collectives and allowed private ownership as an emergency effort. The famine subsided but the Ukraine never rebounded as an exporter under Soviet rule. As for China, politically Communist, economically Capitalist, at least these days.
Read a book sometime; you might find it enlightening. As far as reading Marx, have you ever heard the old adage "Know your enemy"? Have you never read The Communist Manifesto?
Absolutely true... Know thy enemy. Thursday, Sep 23, 2010 08:20 AM CDT Republicans roll out new party manifesto The party's new compact is designed to roll back "failed economic policies" and rein in the health care overhaul Julie Hirschfeld Davis, Associated Press The chairman of the House Republican Conference says the party’s new “Pledge to America” compact is designed to roll back “failed economic policies” and rein in the health care overhaul. Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana tells CBS’s “The Early Show” the document being released today represents the party’s response to what its lawmakers have heard at town meetings and from constituents. Topping the list, says Pence, is a party policy that “Congress ought to be acting to make sure there is no tax increase on any American at any level.” Pence says tax policies being promoted by President Barack Obama would penalize small businesses. The Republican said, “We simply believe that raising taxes on job creators won’t create jobs.”
