So what hasn't Putin lied about lately? I have to admit, the Right wingers sure know how to pick their heroes. If you happen to be a shirtless, lying, president for life, they love you. Bundy, Zimmerman, Limbaugh, Christie,... All you have to do is shoot unarmed teenagers, not pay your grazing fees, create traffic havoc intentionally, and the Right wing ilk will jump to your side in an instant. The Right wing: Picking losers for like ever. Satellite Images Prove Russia Troop Withdrawal a Lie: U.S. The United States released new satellite images displaying what it said was proof that Russian forces have not withdrawn from the Ukrainian border. collapse gallery U.S. Mission to NATO via Reuters 1 Russian President Vladimir Putin said last Wednesday that Russia had pulled back its estimated force of 40,000 troops from the region. But the commercial satellite images, published on the U.S. Mission to NATO's Twitter account on Tuesday, showed troops and vehicles still at Belogrod and two sites in Rostov, near the Ukrainian border. U.S. Mission to NATO via Reuters 2 Colonel Martin Downie, spokesman for Allied Command Operations at NATO, said the images proved that Putin’s comments on troop withdrawal did not reflect realities on the ground. "The reality is that Russia continues to have 40,000 high readiness troops massed on Ukraine's border and another 25,000 troops in Crimea. The units on the latest satellite pictures show mechanized infantry, armored vehicles and combat helicopters," he said in a statement reported by Reuters. "These units are there to intimidate Ukraine's government and they could be used for an invasion of Ukraine, if ordered by Moscow. We will continue to keep a close eye on Russia's actions near our borders." U.S. Mission to NATO via EPA 3 When NATO published similar satellite photographs in April showing a Russian military buildup near the Ukraine border, a Russian official disputed their authenticity, saying the images were from August last year. The allegation was denied by NATO officials, who said the photographs were recent. -- Alexander Smith
You are right. Foreign relations have not been Obama's/Hillary's strong point. But then not much has been their strong point.
Here's the solution to our Russia problem: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/white-house-denies-conflict-hunter-biden-article-1.1791465
I wouldn't have called it a foreign policy victory but it certainly is a political victory over the Right wing hate machine that values foreign dictators more than their own country.
HUH? Obama says please don't and Putin says screw you. And then you crow about it. I can't even think of what to say about that. It is right next to calling black second class citizens.
Then we are in agreement; it's anything BUT a foreign policy victory. Man, you sure do come up with some crazy shit. I don't know how many times other folks on here have told you that they don't like what Putin is doing. Quite to the contrary, they believe it's terrible. They're just hoping that Obama will put Putin in his place, diplomatically of course. So far, Obama has been the diplomatically weakest president I've seen since Jimmy Carter. No, I'm not kidding. Carter was terrible, but Obama is even worse. Come on, Obama, we're rooting for you! Do something to prove that Putin can't just walk all over you!
Let me guess: An idiot believed you were calling this a "foreign policy victory". Well, he was probably just parroting his FAUX "News" master's "insightful" commentary about the story. Puppets are like that.
I didn't characterize it as either our foreign policy failure or our foreign policy victory any more than I'd characterize any country's aggression towards a neighbor as our failure or our victory. You would have to believe that we are the world's policemen. We are not. We do have NATO agreements with some countries and last time I checked, Ukraine wasn't one of them. So how can this be a foreign policy failure or victory on our part? All it is that I can see is national disgrace on the part of the political Right through their adoration of Putin.
The U.S. has pledged to protect Ukraine in the event of aggression against it. The specifics are that Ukraine is to address the UN security council. That means. if Putin wants to invade, the U.N. must defend. How, is the question. Do we ourselves sit back and see if Putin invades, and conquers, Ukraine...or do we mass forces against the forces he himself has massed? A difficult decision must be made: Do we ready our armies for War (which should already be a moot point) or, do we allow Putin to take the Ukraine without any military reaction on our part? As much as I emphasize with the difficulties Obama must face while making such a decision, mine is to unequivocally send a message to Putin that if he wants to fuck with Ukraine, he's going to have to beat us too...and there's no way in hell he's going to do that as easily as he can with Ukraine. That said, I fully understand that Ukraine is a country divided. That it's a country roughly half Ukrainian-minded and half Russian-minded. THAT's the problem, as I see it. Russia already has half the population FOR it, but we ourselves made a pledge to protect it....from Russia (who else?). The point being: We made a pledge, and we must honor the agreement, as specified. To the best of my knowledge (which is considerable, in that regards) we have. If I were Putin, I'd scale back the aggression a bit though, as he doesn't have much more "wiggle room". He's pushing the boundaries of our patience.
