Eric Holder to Congressman: 'You Don't Want To Go There, Ok?'

Holder: What I promised to do was provide you and your staff with ….

Gohmert: Sir, I’ve read you what your department promised and it is inadequate and I realize that contempt is not a big deal to our Attorney General but it is important that we have proper oversight…

Holder: You don’t want to go there, OK?

Gohmert: I don’t want to go there?

    Holder: No

    Gohmert: About the contempt?

Holder: You should not assume that that is not a big deal to me. I think that it was inappropriate; I think that it was unjust but never think that that was not a big deal to me. Don’t ever think that.

Gohmert: I’m just looking for evidence and normally we are know by our fruits and there has been no indication that it had been a big deal, because your department has still not been forthcoming in producing the documents that were the subjects of the contempt.

Gohmert, might as well be Gomer Pyle. Another joke straight out of Texas.

Aspersions? Asparagus? One moment from the Holder testimony
    BY ALEXANDRA PETRI
    May 15, 2013 at 6:00 pm

This was supposed to be asparagus.

Amid the tense atmosphere of Attorney General Eric Holder’s testimony on Capitol Hill came a bizarre exchange in which representative Louie Gohmert (R-Tex) accused Holder of attacking his integrity and “casting aspersions on my asparagus.”
In isolation, it’s almost Dada-esque. In context, it’s about equally bizarre. Cast aspersions on asparagus? Next you’ll be slandering his slaw or belittling his beets or doing something equally alliterative to his cauliflower.
    Keep asparagus out of it.
Unlike celery, which is misery incarnate, asparagus never did anything to anyone, except occasionally increase the acidity of our urine. The only fact I can readily supply about it is that I read in an etiquette book once that it was acceptable to eat it with your fingers. Also, it cameo’ed in this suggestive Newsweek cover, back in the days when Newsweek had covers.
Some on Twitter have suggested that there is a long and sordid history between Rep. Gohmert and asparagus. Perhaps he keeps a secret stash somewhere in Argentina, in flagrant disregard for the broccoli with which he has been in a committed relationship for the past decade. Perhaps this is why the issue proved so sensitive.
Still, considering what regular, un-aspersed asparagus does to you, we should all quail at the prospect of upsetting it. From Rep. Gohmert’s plaintive tone, I think the asparagus has had about all it can take.
And that wasn’t even the most ridiculous statement at the hearing. But the other ones weren’t funny.

The asparagus is taking it well.

In an administration full of idiots, Holder may be the biggest idiot of all (well, excluding BO & Biden, of course). He seems to be changing the role of the AG office to that of a protector of WH secrets. You gotta give BO credit though, he's been able to operate this little enterprise with impunity...one has to wonder what the libs would be saying if it were a Republican in the office.

And how many subpoenas has Gohmert ignored? There was only one joke in that room and he was not the one asking questions.

Holder has been cited of contempt of Congress - with lots of evidence. He is a Democrat. You have already convicted Christie even though you have not a shred of evidence. He is a Republican. Obama did not lie about keeping your insurance. Another Democrat. You said Romney lied about his income taxes but later was proven correct. Another Republican. Is this beginning to sound like a routine?

Republicans don't believe in using committees for oversight, they believe in political witch hunts. After 7,600 documents turned over to Issa and his cadre of Salem witch hunters, they were still not satisfied and pushed their luck by charging Holder with contempt. Having asked for and received an assertion of executive privilege from president Obama, Holder is absolutely free to hold congress in as much contempt as he likes. Lack of proof does not translate to guilt except in McCarthyism which Issa has no problem with even though it was one of the darkest most shameful times in this country's history. He would love to repeat it. Issa is a smarmy low-life weasel unworthy of the trust of the American people. Holder is an accomplished Attorney General well respected and has every right to make fun of clowns like Gohmert. Gohmert represents the type of fool people with character have to suffer.

    Hilarious and sad...

Totally redacted documents and turning over junior's email to Bud about which bar to go to tonight has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

And, yes, Holder absolutely has the right to "make fun of clowns". And Gohmert has even more of a right to go after Holder. As for being accomplished, that usually implies something constructive. I do not consider his divisive handing of the DOJ anything close to constructive. In fact I consider it very destructive. Respected? I would guess about 10% to 20% of the public respect him. Another 50% don't have a clue who he is. That leaves about 30% to 40% who blame him - for a lot!

So, you attack the person seeking the truth, but don't have even a single disparaging word to say about the Attorney General who was held in contempt? Typical liberal.

I realize that you guys absolutely hate anyone that is a Democrat. I can't put any stock in any of your rantings and ravings because it is abundantly clear that hating Democrats is your only real motivation. Everything from there forward is just a pathetic rationalization of a rather caveman mentality..."Them bad, we good"...so you've really kind of crapped on any credibility that you may have had and cornered yourselves into a position of being ignored except by those of us that just have a good time making fun of you and watching how angry we can make you. Who are you trying to convince anyway? Does it make you feel good to spew your angry poorly conceived rants in a place like this because you know you can't do it out in the real world? Maybe this is as out in the real world as you get? How sad.
