What happened to his right to a speedy trial? Over an inoperable shotgun shell? http://foxnewsinsider.com/2014/02/11/dc-man-set-hearing-after-cops-raid-turned-one-shotgun-shell
I can understand the police raiding his home if his wife had accused him of threatening her with a gun but as for the rest of it !! charging him for possessing a dud shell!! that is madness
by Fox News Insider // Mar 27 2014 // 1:47pm As seen on Happening Now A Washington, D.C., man was found guilty yesterday on a charge relating to his possession of some antique replica muzzleloader bullets. Judge Robert Morin sentenced Mark Witaschek to time served, a $50 fine and required him to enroll in the police department's firearm offenders’ registry within 48 hours. Dem Gun Control Advocate Arrested, Accused of Working With Mobsters on Gun Deals Witaschek had also been charged for having an inoperable shotgun shell, but that was dropped. Witaschek, who appeared on Fox and Friends earlier this year to discuss this legal nightmare, did not have any firearms in his home when police carried out a raid in 2012. The case has focused attention on the capital's strict gun control laws, with critics pointing out that no action was taken against NBC News' David Gregory when he took out a high-capacity ammo clip on "Meet the Press." Jon Scott discussed the case with Doug Burns and attorney Rebecca Rose-Woodland. Burns, a former assistant U.S. attorney, questioned where the "prosecutorial discretion" was in this case, saying prosecutors do not have to prosecute every charge brought by police. "Are we going to interpret a law that strictly? Come on," said Rose-Woodland, pointing out that Witaschek actually moved to Virginia after his arrest. "It's almost offensive. There's such crime in the District of Columbia. Why don't they really focus on the people who have guns illegally, who are shooting people? He was just hunting," she said. Witaschek plans to appeal the conviction, saying his reputation and his business have been damaged.
All I can say is thank god I dont live there I have a number of old (US) civil war musket balls and bullets in my home
