Howdy peeps, I was wondering if anyone has caught how the Stargate TV Series and Harry Potter are so much alike? I met a person biking from Southern California to Seattle who explained the entire Stargate Religion to me and it never dawned on me that it would ever manage to pull off a gathering but it has at least one devout soul believing. Anyways, I sat there patiently and listened to him explain how Merlin was constantly coming back to sneak us secrets he wasn't suppose to share and I listened as to how there are aliens out to enslave us and aliens that want to protect us and it wasn't long before I started looking around for a Christian to testify to me to get me out of the conversation I was in. Wow! Stargate is an official Religion. It's amazing how easy it is for a new Religion to pop up. As to Harry Potter, the scuttlebutt around town is that Harry is Merlin but it seems Malfoy has somehow been mistake for Arthur. I don't know how anyone could mistake Malfoy for Arthur but has anyone here been following the story? Who do you think is King Arthur? And what about the rest of the characters of the story? Who are they? Ribbit
I can't even take all these crazy beliefs with any degree of seriousness and I doubt you do either. It is however a convenient context to understand some of the more mainstream religions and their origins. You simply have to dangle a shiny story in front of some folks and **poof!** a religion is born. We accept that a baby was born to a virgin without question. We believe that a man was crucified and came back from the dead. We believe that he performed miracles. We believed that he was the son of God. And we believe all this without question because we were raised with these age old stories. Why would aliens, stargates, or Merlin be any different from any other fantastical story that eventually becomes a religion? Look at Mormonism, now there are some creative stories yet they are a world-wide religion. Christians are easily as crazy as Mormons, Jews, Muslims, or any other belief system that requires faith as their only proof. The only difference is the degree to which some of their followers believe the nonsense. Some are absolutists true believers and others are just passive go along to get along types but they all push the same nonsense.
I believe in 3 different kinds of Serious: 1) My Serious 2) Anyone else's Serious 3) All else in-between With that, I know that everything has a purpose, even religion, and with that, every religion has a purpose as well but the purpose religion serves, is individually tailor fitted to everyone that practices it. That's the unique nature of Closed Mindedness, it's a self-tailored perfect fitting suit and always made of the finest virgin wool that money can buy and that suit always serves a Religion, even Calculus qualifies as a Religion and the suits of that Religion never stain, never gather moss, just like all the other suits. Also, religioustards are a great alternative to clay pigeons, when you run out or kNot. Pull! Ribbit Ps: I hope my clay pigeon comment doesn't land me in jail for terroristic threatening?
I only believe in one type of serious... The Sirius radio in my cars. Besides, Rome had the right idea before they sold out. Feed the kittys.
Are there no Harry Pooter fans here? No Stargate fans here? Does anyone here know the difference between a tailgate and a stargate? I'm starting to wonder if Invasion of the Body Snatchers has gone down? Maybe this story will get sum 2 talk'n: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/13/medieval-knight-found-under-parking-lot_n_2869975.html Who could that be? What if William Wallace wasn't drawn & quartered in London, like history touts? What if his friend secured secret safe passage home to Scotland, so William could be buried in his homeland and in one piece? What if that is William Wallace? Did you hear the story about King Richard the 3rd? His bones showed up recently too and forensics confirm Ole King Dicky Trick didn't die on the battlefield, he died at the hands of a little girl, a Judith. http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/03/world/europe/richard-iii-search-announcement/ The story about King Kicky Trick's true demise has been floating around for a long time, the Crown always refuting it but the bones tell all. Speaking of Bones, why did Gene call him Bones? Plus, has anyone else caught that Jim & Spock are in love, in the real werld, not in the movie? However, those two would make a great sequel to Enemy Mine. So, what's Merlin got to dew with anything? Ribbit
