FOR-PROFIT HEALTH CARE IS A DISASTER...PERIOD!!!!!! The U.S. Health Care System Is Terrible, In 1 Enraging Chart View attachment 2127 Yes, among this group of big countries, the U.S. spends far and away more on health care than any other. And yet it has among the lowest life expectancies of any developed country. People live longer in pretty much every country in Europe, including Greece, where the economy has been wracked by austerity for years. "What bothers me most is not that we’re all the way on the right, or even that we are lower than we should be," Aaron Carroll, professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine wrote on his blog of the chart. "It’s that we are all alone. We are spending so, so, so much more than everyone else." This confirms what we pretty much already knew about the terribleness of U.S. health care. The U.S. ranks 46th among 48 developed economies in health-care efficiency, according to a Bloomberg ranking, below China, Iran, Colombia and, you know, pretty much everybody else.
Can you explain how kicking 130,000,000 people off the current policies and raising their rates 50% - 100% could possibly be reducing our medical costs? There is nothing in the Obamacare bill to reduce expenses. There is a lot to spread the wealth. I take that back. The death panels could reduce costs by restricting the use of medical facilities. A couple simple improvements would have been to improve the medical law suits. but the Democrats voted that down. Allow insurance companies to sell across state lines, but the Democrats voted that down. But all the Republican ideas were rejected by Obama - "I won!".
Little Joe, there are a lot of factors involved in Life Expectancy other than a country's healthcare system. For instance, your chart indicates that Japan has a higher life expectancy than the US. Well, of course it does! Have you seen how the Japanese (generally speaking) eat and treat their bodies compared to those in the US? It would be nice if US citizens regulated their own lifestyles, but that's probably not going to happen unless the government nudges them into changing their habits. I suppose you want to regulate how US citizens eat. That smacks of socialism and/or communism. The more you regulate, the more liberties you take away. Read Cass Sunstein's book sometime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nudge_(book)
...not when, on its face, it makes no sense. How can you insure 30 million more people and, at the same time, lower insurance premiums (on average) by $2500/family? How can you pass an Employer mandate and expect Employers to keep offering Healthcare insurance? How can you throw millions of people off their insurance and into (an already stressed) Medicaid system and expect them to have the same wait time to see a doctor? ...you can't. (duh!) If I smell a Habanero pepper and the mere scent brings tears to my eyes, I don't need to bite into it to confirm my suspicions.
Yakpoo, Joe will keep defending the train wreck of Obamacare no matter how bad it gets. I watched the Habanero Pepper video. That poor guy. He reminds me of a liberal who doesn't believe just how bad something can be for you until he experiences it for himself.
Then when health care actually kicks in (older people), our life expectancy is the longest. Think about that. http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/us_life_expectancy_were_number_1/
