Special Investigation: How Insurers Are Hiding Obamacare Benefits From Customers

Donna received the letter canceling her insurance plan on Sept. 16. Her insurance company, LifeWise of Washington, told her that they'd identified a new plan for her. If she did nothing, she'd be covered.
A 56-year-old Seattle resident with a 57-year-old husband and 15-year-old daughter, Donna had been looking forward to the savings that the Affordable Care Act had to offer.
But that's not what she found. Instead, she'd be paying an additional $300 a month for coverage. The letter made no mention of the health insurance marketplace that would soon open in Washington, where she could shop for competitive plans, and only an oblique reference to financial help that she might qualify for, if she made the effort to call and find out.

Is it the responsibility of insurance companies to "sell" Obamacare?

No...their responsibility is to sell their products. I'm sure they highlighted the plan that offers the least expensive, Obamacare-compliant policy their company offers. Beyond that, what do you feel the insurance company has a responsibility to do?

Just because Obamacare mandates all sorts of coverage that's not applicable to every household, don't blame the insurance companies for that!

That's the best "evidence" you can come up with? Really?
Notice the letterhead on your blacked-out, blurry supposed letter says "Humana"? Shouldn't it be from Lifewise? Oops!

It's their responsibility not to screw their customers. Stop giving them a pass. You go off the F'ing rails saying Obama lied and completely ignore openly dishonest insurers. You're such a corporate shill you might as well be on their payroll...or maybe you are?

Are you so dumb that you let a stock photo convince you of this nonsense? My God! You have to be as dumb as a Kentuckian.

I don't support anyone who is dishonest (especially Liberals), but if insurance was so bad, why do these companies even exist? Insurance companies are highly regulated. They offer insurance options to their customers, but it's the customer who decides. If they make a bad decision based on cost, you can't blame the insurance company for that.

Obamacare, under the guise of "consumer protection" are forcing everyone to buy insurance that they don't need. These bloated policies are being touted as policies "...with much better coverage". More coverage? ...yes. Better coverage? ...doubtful.

Your "Glitch Girl" isn't even a US citizen and doesn't have Obamacare...but she's supposed to be the face of a happy Obamacare customer! Totally disingenuous!

They just announced on CNBC that the Administration made a change to Obamacare. You can now keep your insurance (i.e. you don't have to enter Obamacare), however it's up to the insurance company to advise customers of alternatives and available subsidies.

A baby-step in the right direction!

I guess I'm spoiled. After seeing all the real people looking into the camera & telling us their horror stories with Obamacare I expected the same from those who would want to share the successes. But I guess stock photos is all you'd have if the stores were made up anyway, huh?

That is not going to work either. All of those plans have to be re-approved by the state agencies and reprice by the companies who no longer have the pricing stats. The companies might get their pricing, but I will bet you nearly all of the states will not be able to re-approve the plans in time. All he has done is to kick the can again.

Because of the lack of competition that existed prior to the new law. They now have competition and they hate it.

If all you have to complain about is a stock photo, try actually reading the article and then point out any inconsistencies. READ!

BTW, where did Obama get the power to change the laws without Congressional approval?

Oh and where did I hear this plan before? Didn't the Republicans propose something like this once upon a time?

And, the OP is a bunch of hooey. A whole bunch of conclusions drawn with a single letter to support their case.

Democrats could have listened to Republicans and allowed insurance companies to sell compliant policies across state lines. We don't need Government to take over the process.

I'm not "complaining" about a stock photo, I'm pointing out that in lieu of a real evidence a stock photo is all you'll have. But you knew that, didn't you?
