The police officer received death threats against him AND HIS FAMILY after this incident. Yes, DEATH THREATS! One can only wonder who would make death threats against this officer. View attachment 2057 http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/10/2...er-compensation-settlement/?intcmp=latestnews
Maybe the protesters who were indiscriminately sprayed while displaying no resistance? http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/...payout-20131024,0,7729820.story#axzz2ih6HGD3n
YEAH, They sound like likely suspects to me. I wonder what kind of searing eye pain could have given them or anyone that may sympathize with them cause for being so angry at this guy? I guess we'll never really know what the motivation behind all of this hatred could have been.
I wonder if this is related to "disobeying a lawful order". In this case it was actually given by an officer of the law.
Riiiiiiight. That gives them a right to threaten his family and the lives of his family members? What kind of twisted logic is that?
So angry as to threaten his life and the lives of his family? Come on, even YOU aren't that violent.. are you?
OKc can you read? I never said anyone had a "right to threaten" anyone. I merely stated it was more than likely the people sprayed who did so. There's your so-called twisted logic. Good grief, no wonder fox appeals to you.
I know not what angers other people but I'm guessing spraying them in the eyes with pepper spray is probably pretty high on the list of things that piss some people off.
I wasn't referring to you, I was referring to the people who thought they had a right to threaten the officer and his family. Whoever made the threats obviously thought they had the right based on the officer's actions. But, to threaten him and his family with death?!?!?! Did his actions deserve that kind of response?
Which lawful order are you referring to? And even if there was some "lawful order" is spraying them in the eyes the next logical step?
A lot of things piss people off. Everyone has different tolerance levels before they go off the deep end. Take you, for instance. You advocated burning down the State House and called for violence in the streets of Wisconsin when collective bargaining privileges for unions were being scaled back. This officer issued a lawful order for dispersal to these people who were inhibiting access to a thoroughfare. Now, in other threads, you've stated that people should obey a lawful order given by the police. Do you think this officer's order should have been obeyed?
Would you prefer that they shoot and ask questions later? A lawful order is a lawful order is a lawful order is a lawful order. Are you trying to say there are degrees of resisting arrest? BTW, if I remember correctly, there were MANY lawful orders before this occurred.
I do not think that any one had the right to threaten his life or that of his family, in the same way that I do not think that he had the right to pepper spray people who were (From that picture) no threat to any one, showing no display of violence simply sitting there. OK fair enough they might well have refused to move when ordered to do so but how far do you want to take it? Shoot them if they refuse to obey a lawful order? I thought that you had the right to peaceful demonstration in the US of A
The protesters appear to be obstructing a right of way (of some sort...don't know for sure), but the police officer was most likely following orders or procedures (personally, I would have gone with the water canon). What seems outrageous is a $38,000 workman's comp settlement...only in California.
