But still far below his predecessors deficit spending. So why all of a sudden are you concerned?

We could erase the deficit and eventually the debt if we ever raised taxes but that seems too radical given all the tax breaks that are routinely handed out by the GOP. Paying huge subsidies to the most profitable private corporations in the world is just handing our tax base away to the wealthy. Paying no taxes is all they really want. They have all of the money and they have no wish to support this great country. Their greed and lust for power has no end game. No taxes will ever be low enough. No social safety net will ever be acceptable. No size of government will ever be small enough. When this country is a third-rate banana republic with people dying in the streets from hunger, disease, and poverty and a government unable to function because it has been completely starved of resources, revenue, and honorable public servants, there you will find the Right-wing Utopia. Nothing short of this scenario is acceptable to them. Yikes!

Yeah, we all know the far left's narrative but just because they tell you this stuff doesn't make it true.
As I've been saying since I began posting here years ago:
We don't need to tax more, we need to tax differently!

More importantly, we need to spend differently - a lot differently!

I'll agree with that, rlm. We may Not agree on where those differences be, but the sentiment remains the same.

    I disagree.

    Spending is not the problem.

Spending is tied to the economy.

More spending equals a stronger economy.

Less spending equals a weaker economy.

The government and the private sector make-up the majority of an economy. Dilute spending in either one, and the economy weakens.

A weakened economy has many implications, most of which are negative; less cash-flow, productivity decreases, fewer jobs...to name a few.

On a national-scale, spending is only a problem when it slows.

    IMO.

The Right's explanation of financial issues, although creative, has about as much of a relationship to reality as cartoon violence has to the laws of physics. Just pretty much working on their superior moral justification for selfishness.

As spoken by a true expert at giving away other people's money (obviously so they can keep their own).
