If you caught any of his talk-a-thon at all yesterday I hope you found it as amusing as I did. What a total joke! I think that several people have pointed out that his Green Eggs and Ham reading was kind of ironic since it is the story of a guy that refused to try something until at the very end he does and likes it. I have heard the right wing conspiracy crowd (you can google this) say that they think Cruz is a plant by the Democrats meant to destroy the other side and given this latest escapade, I half believing them. But then again, there is nothing that the Tea Party does that doesn't seem pure unadulterated whackiness anyway so it would really be hard to tell. My question is, and please, please, please say yes, is Cruz the new leader of the Republican Party going forward? He has been described as the Obama twin on the Right. He is a junior senator with his eyes on the presidency like Obama was, he went to Harvard like Obama, he was a very smart student like Obama, he worked in a law firm like Obama, his parents are divorced like Obama's parents. The real difference is that Cruz is an elitist while Obama came from humble roots and relates well to ordinary people. Cruz was such a snob at Harvard that he refused to work along side of other students from "lesser Ivy's". Obama is a great orator while Cruz talks like a robot with a feeling chip on the blink.
Wendy Davis does it and she is a hero ( hers was about killing children) Humble beginnings? Frank Marshall Davis? Soviet Studies taught by Zbigneiw Brezezinski? Stanley Ann Dunham East West Center at U of Hawaii? Lolo Soetoro and the Ford Foundation? Obama and the Geitners have been together forever....Tims dad was Onamas mothers boss..... Please do tell of Obamas humble beginnings......if you can get past this: http://www.fas.org/sgp/obama/presidential.html
Divorced mother and living with his grandparents. I'm not saying he or any other middle class kid starved in those days but a woman teaching even at the college level at that time would not have been paid well. Humble is the perfect description. Now compare that to Cruz.
Funny, but I do not see word one about how you were brought up. What I do see says people are humble when they do not try to circumvent their own powers. UHM?!?!?!
Many professional athletes, celebrities, etc had much 'humbler' beginnings than our current President and many of them are far from being humble individuals.
Bill Clinton came from humble begginings....I have read a half dozen books on the Clintons, including their own. Obama hardly can claim that. So what, he ate a dog once. He was groomed and raised by some very (bad) or (good) people depending on what side of the aisle you lean towards. His education was funded by those same people ( some say Colombia he was given foreign student aid but that's another thread). The more you want to go on about his beginnings the uglier it will get. I suggest we stop here.
BO had a humble upbringing? Are you serious? He was raised in paradise by loving, well-off grandparents. He traveled the world...attended private schools from elementary all the way through college...never had to work. That's "humble"?
How can he be..."a junior senator with his eyes on the presidency" as you say, if he was born outside the US? Oh! ...the same way Obama did it.
Just like any other child born to American parents outside of the U.S. Look up his bio. It's kind of interesting. Oh here lame one...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Cruz
Thanks...a very inspirational article!! This is the type of opportunity Republicans hope to created for ALL Americans regardless of race or economic circumstance. It's entirely up to each individual what they make of the opportunity they're given...no regrets; no government bailouts.
