I hope it is! No slip. I want to see the insurance companies that have been bilking us for decades go out of business. Every one of them. And the sooner the better. I can only hope.

Nice dodge...danced around that like a ballerina (again, not intended to create a visual image that gets cluless excited), didn't you?

Are you really that stupid? The insurance company may decide not to pay but they can't dictate whether or not a procedure is performed. Under Obamacare, once that Obama-appointed bureaucrat says "no" to a prodecure that procedure cannot be performed legally.

And that is exactly what happened to Sarah Murnaghan. Only she managed to win a court decision to overthrow the governments decision to kill her.

HUH? Yes, Sebelious denied her transplant. That is what I said. i.e.death panel. What is the lie?

I believe Jack was calling Little Joe a liar. Correct me if I'm wrong, Jack.

The little girl would have died had Sebelius gotten her way, but a federal judge ruled against Sebelius' 'death panel'. So, Little Joe is wrong about the so-called 'death panels' (I use the term for lack of a better description, but that's EXACTLY what they are).

The procedures were created by panels of doctors. The criteria they created is what Sebelious had to consider. She could have refused to listen to them, of course, but the criteria is there for a reason.

I'm not saying the criteria itself is correct, but it's what she had to rely on to make a decision.

One issue I personally have with the criteria (as I recall it) is that a healthy lung may be given to an old man or woman, instead on a young adult or teenager, depending on circumstances.

The problem with children (under the age of 12) receiving lung transplants is that the entire lung doesn't fit inside their chest cavity. From what I understand, this typically requires the child to receive another transplant as they near adulthood, meaning the lung is a temporary fix, not a permanent solution. And there are many complications that can happen, between the time of the 1st transplant and the next.

It's not a simple "Let's save the kid!" deal. For that kid to be saved, someone else may die, waiting for that same set of lungs. It's a complex criteria, and I don't necessarily agree with it, but most of the science is sound, based on probabilities of success, worthiness of candidacy, expected survival in years, and whatnot.

Obamacare Premiums Report Shows Low Prices For Uninsured With Wide Variation
    Posted: 09/25/2013 12:01 am EDT | Updated: 09/25/2013 7:54 am EDT

The average price for basic health coverage purchased on health insurance exchanges created by President Barack Obama's health care reform law will be $249 a month, not counting subsidies, in 48 states reviewed by the Department of Health and Human Services, according to a government report published Wednesday.

The health insurance exchanges, marketplaces for uninsured people and consumers who don't get health benefits from their employers, are scheduled to launch on Oct. 1 for an enrollment period that runs through the end of March for 2014 coverage. This latest analysis of what the health insurance plans will cost comes just six days before people will be able to find out what they'll actually pay.

Ok, I know this is a stretch for you but let's look at this thing logically....
If the insurance companies are the greedy bastards your ilk claims them to be, how can they offer lower premiums while being required to take on pre-existing conditions & the add'l coverages required to be Obamacare compliant? Obviously they can't, can they?
Any example of a premium being lower is simply a case of the consumer buying a policy that sucks! They same high-deductible, high co-pay plans the admin used as examples of insurers taking advantage of the insured are the same plans they now parade around as "affordable". Our insurance company discontinued better plans, cheaper plans because they were advised the plans weren't Obamacare-compliant, now these plans are the admins model of reform.

I have an honest question here.

Can anyone tell me how much their insurance will go up or down or will it remain the same?

    Mine will go up.

Everyone's have gone up when you compare apples to apples.
I can tell you, at my previous employer, the premiums have gone from roughly $600/mo for a family of four to over $900 in the last year or so plus the coverages aren't as good...higher deductibles, higher office co-pay & much tighter restrictions on out of network providers. Plus, this is all after the former insurance provider exited the market because of Obamacare.

Actually, it depends on where you live. Most people will go up and some significantly. NY's will go down (they already had per-existing coverage). I believe it was Mississippi's that will also go down. Problem is there you will have your choice of one(that is a single) policy that does not cover squat and has a $5,000 deductible. Another problem seen is that you cannot go to the nearest hospital. You can only go to ones accepting your insurance. In some cases, that is miles (up to 100) away. In many cases, the leading hospitals are refusing to accept any Obamacare insurance.

Pay more, get less: Introducing Obamacare in Illinois

SPRINGFEILD — At best, folks in Illinois looking for insurance on the Obamacare exchanges will pay a little bit more than they currently do for health insurance.

But while they’ll be paying a little bit more, they’ll be getting an awful lot less.

PREMIUMS VS CARE: Illinois' low end Obamacare premiums are not outrageous. Until you see what ypu get.

PREMIUMS VS CARE: Illinois’ low end Obamacare premiums are not outrageous. Until you see what you get.

The state released the price for insurance premiums to be offered through the Obamacare exchanges starting Oct 1 and the numbers aren’t pretty.

But that’s not the message pushed by the Illinois chief executive.
“Illinois residents will be able to select a plan that is affordable and meets the healthcare needs of their families. The number and quality of affordable health plans that will be offered through the Illinois Marketplace is impressive,” Gov. Pat Quinn crows in a statement.
Quinn goes on to brag that “Illinois’ rates are lower than was predicted by HHS and lower than many other states.”

Lower than expected does not mean low cost.

“People are going to pay about the same, or maybe a tiny bit less,” Robert Slayton,an insurance analyst from Naperville, told Illinois Watchdog. “If you’re going to a doctor, your co-pays are one thing. But the rest of the costs, that’s another thing.”

Slayton said the state is only releasing some of the information about the lowest cost plans.

Illinois proudly says a single, 25-year-old man in Chicago will pay about $120 in monthly premiums. Slayton points out the state is silent about what prescriptions, co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles will cost.

“The problem I have with (Obamacare), it’s going to cost 40 percent to 60 percent of the population more money out of their pocket than what they are currently paying,” Slayton said.

Slayton found health insurance plans that are available today with premiums close to Obamacare costs, but those plans come with $10,000 to $12,000 deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses that would cost customers thousands of dollars more.

“The typical person today has a gold level plan,” Slayton explained, “which is 80/20 co-insurance, $1,000 deductible up to a about a $2,500 deductible.”

But Illinois’ new rates are only for bronze and silver level plans.
“Everybody is comparing apples to oranges,” Slayton said, adding that Obamacare doesn’t require all insurance plans to offer top-shelf insurance plans.

In other words, you may not be able to keep your doctor or the health plan you currently have.

Quinn notes Obamacare will come with subsidies for most people buying insurance through the marketplace.

“Illinois will also have access to financial support to help pay for health insurance,” Quinn said. “This means they have access to health coverage that meets their budget, keeps them healthy and gives them peace of mind.”

But Slayton said health care that “meets your budget” is not the same as health care that covers your needs and doesn’t break the bank.
