Since his acquittal for 2nd degree murder of a teenaged boy, George Zimmerman has been pulled over twice for speeding, his wife has filed for divorce, and today we learned that the police were called to the Zimmerman residence because he threatened his estranged wife with a gun. This Right-wing hero seems to be unraveling right before our eyes. Never mind his past criminal record for assaulting a female police officer, never mind his former wife’s restraining order, never mind that he has lied again and again, he is exactly the kind of person the Right-wing gun crowd is arming and sending out into the commons every single day. Thanks to Right-wing legislation passed in Florida, we can’t even take away guns from people like this. Hope this is what you wanted your heroes to behave like Righties. He sure is a credit to your side.

Fla. police called on George Zimmerman

LAKE MARY, Fla. (AP) — George Zimmerman's estranged wife called police officers to her father's house in Florida Monday, saying the former neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted of murder threatened her with a gun.
Shellie Zimmerman called police shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, said Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell.
Zimmerman hasn't been arrested and officers were at the house trying to determine what happened, Bracknell said.
"We've only heard one side of the story so far," Bracknell said.
Shellie Zimmerman in a divorce petition filed last week she said she and her husband separated a month after Zimmerman was acquitted of any crime for fatally shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last July in Sanford, just a few miles away Lake Mary.
Zimmerman's acquittal led to protests nationwide.
Shellie Zimmerman was asking that her husband pay for a permanent life insurance policy with her named as the beneficiary, according to a divorce petition made public last week.
In an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America" that aired last Friday, Zimmerman said her husband left her with "a bunch of pieces of broken glass" after the acquittal. She said he only stayed in their house three or four nights since the trial ended and that they even tried counseling. But she moved out Aug. 13.
"I have a selfish husband and I think George is all about George," she said.
George Zimmerman and his lawyers have made no public statements on the divorce proceedings. An email to Zimmerman's lawyers weren't immediately answered.
George Zimmeran's brother Robert Zimmerman Jr., tweeted that "we've learned from GZ case not to 'jump to conclusions,' to wait for facts, & to avoid speculation. 'News' is a business — not your friend."
Last month, Shellie Zimmerman, 26, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor perjury charge for lying about the couple's finances during a bail hearing following her husband's arrest after Martin's shooting.
George Zimmerman, 29, said he acted in self-defense when he killed Martin and the polarizing case opened up national discussions on self-defense laws and race. Martin was black. Zimmerman has a white father and Hispanic mother.
Shellie Zimmerman was sentenced to a year's probation and 100 hours of community service. Her husband did not attend the sentencing hearing in the Sanford courtroom.

But Zimmerman is innocent - just like you said Ayers is innocent.

Ayers, was never convicted of anything while Zimmerman has been convicted of many things. I'd trust Ayers with a gun long before I'd trust the likes of Zimmerman. Nice try bring up something from like 50 years ago though. Very pertinent.

George probably feels like a real man threatening his wife and her elderly father as long as he has his handy gun in his pocket. We are witnessing exactly the type of person the NRA wants to see with a gun in Zimmerman. He isn't interested in defense so much as offense. Zimmerman is a short fat coward that can only muster the courage to confront children, women, and the elderly with a gun in his pocket. He always initiates the aggression. What a loser.

Perhaps his wife was acting suspicious and wearing a hoodie, in which case he had every right to act like a crazed psycho. The details are in the insanity.

In fact, Zimmerman's wife and father now say they were NEVER threatened with a firearm and his wife will not be filing charges. I wish people on here would wait until the facts of a case come out before jumping to conclusions.

That is how the liberals exist - spreading innuendo and rumor.

Regardless, your Right-wing hero seems like a pretty shady character. You guys are like Russia. Always picking the worst despots to defend.

Zimmerman Update: Lake Mary Police Department spokesman Zach Hudson said investigators do not believe a gun was involved in the incident, even though Shellie Zimmerman in her 911 call described her husband making threats with his hand on one.

    This is kind of odd.

I suppose one can argue that no gun was involved but if he's making threats with his hand on one how would you react if you were Shellie Zimmerman?

Whether or not you agree or disagree with the verdict in the Trayvon Martin case there is one thing that can be stated as fact.

He has used a gun with deadly force.

That would make me a bit nervous for sure.
For that matter ANY person making threats to me with their hand on a gun would make me nervous.

For the record ANY kind of perceived weapon would make me nervous. Be it a knife, a screwdriver, hammer etc.

Also, one of the jurors in the case went on a talk show the other day and called Zimmerman a murderer. Maybe Zimmerman couldn't be convicted under the GOP's bastardized Florida gun laws as they currently stand but he IS a murderer and would most likely have been convicted if this had happened in a different state. I just love the Right-wing hero worship of a guy that assaults women, kills teenagers, and punches an elderly man in the face. Oh wait a minute, I just figured out why they like him so much. He is living their dream.

Uh, now wait a minute. Just who is defending the guy? I noted the newest reports which have contradicted your OP. Nothing more, nothing less. I wasn't there and neither were you so neither one of us knows what really happened. We just have to go by what's being reported. I was simply pointing out that you jumped to conclusions. You really should stop doing that.

Why is it when I say "Right-wing" you assume that I am talking about YOU? Ego?

Some day you will learn not to spread lies. The Stand Your Ground law had absolutely nothing to do with the Zimmerman case. Now if you are saying we should no longer have the right of self defense, good luck changing the Illinois laws.
