I know fog-of-war hates these real life examples because they don't far the far left's narrative.... My wife is a RN, her hospital announced yesterday they are phasing out 2 programs. One provides free taxi rides for patients & their families if they don't have their own transportation upon discharge and the other provides free or discounted meals to patient's families if the patient will be on the hospital for three nights or more. The reason for these programs being eliminated? Yep, reduced reimbursements from the gov't for medicare/medicaid/obamacare patients. But in other news, medicare/medicaid does allow the patient to upgrade to a private suite if one is available with medicare/medicaid picking up the additional charge!
No conservative supported Obamacare. Every conservative warned of the consequences. Now that they are happening, you want to blame the conservative? Is the a non-prejudiced bone left in your body?
The hospital is abusing the system. In order to make more profits, they're "allowing" the poor to get into expensive rooms.
I'm the most conservative person here. You false-conservatives are nothing more than selfish and heartless whiners more concerned about your money than you are about other people besides yourselves...and I'm being conservative when I say that.
Whoa, wait a minute. Since when are things like this "free"? Doesn't the government extract money from people including self-satisfied sanctimonious assh*les like you to pay for these "freebies" and subsidized bennies? And you're complaining because the hospital is now unable to suck enough dinero out of the government teats to make it worth its while to provide this stuff? Government spending is out of control. We're drowning in debt, right? Every little cut helps. Sounds to me like it's time for the private sector and private charities to step up to the plate here. Maybe you should wander on down Our Lady of Perpetual Victimization and see if they might want to become part of the solution. Provided you can get the priest to pull his face out of his altar boy's crotch long enough to talk to you.
On average, the gov't is reimbursing hospitals 80% of their costs to treat medicare & medicaid patients- costs, not the amount being billed. Under Obamacare the reimbursement will be even less while the number of patients being covered will increase dramatically. With the threat to hospitals that they risk running further into the red is there any doubt we will be asked to pay even more while services will continue to be cut?
Now, caps on out-of-pocket expenses are being delayed until 2015! What the hell is wrong with this monstrosity known as Obamacare that major provisions of it need to be delayed? However, beyond all that, another focus should be on HOW the Obama administration can constitutionally pick and choose which portions of the law to enforce or delay. As others on this forum have noted, Obamacare is the "law of the land". As such, it must be followed whether we like it or not. Until or when it can be repealed or changed, we have to adhere to it. Our president, under our Constitution, does not have the power to decide which portions of legislation to obey or to disregard. He MUST follow the law.
Are the nurses in the hospital unionized? Is your wife a card-carrying union member? Isn't that supporting the unions? Why is it OK when it's you, but not OK when it's others?
My friend is a Respiratory Therapist and works in a hospital. He's not in a union. His wife is an RN and works in a hospital. Also, not in a union.
Here's the link: http://www.forbes.com/sites/theapot...e-delay-out-of-pocket-caps-waived-until-2015/ Seems nothing BO promised, in regard to Obamacare, has been delivered.....except the tax increase.
And to make sure everything stay messed up, Congress has now exempted itself from Obamacare. http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/politics...ute-Deal-Gives-Congress-Obamacare-Exemption-/
Congress has exempted themselves The out of pocket cap has been pushed back The employer mandate has been pushed back The pre-existing aspect has been put on hold The guarantee you can keep your preferred physician disappeared The promise you can keep your current coverage disappeared The unions no longer support it Medical costs are exploding Benefits are being taken a way Jobs are being eliminated Worker's hours are being reduced The red tape is so great applicants will be assessing themselves The IRS will have both your financial & medical records ...now, explain aiagn how this is a good thing?
