At least the guy is now selling more copies of his book thanks to the knuckleheads at Fox. Unintended consequences, untended consequences...
Yeah, if you're going to review a book with the author, at least have the basic foresight to read it first. I blame whoever gave her the assignment with no more prep than a stack of cards with poorly thought-out questions and talking points. I'm glad he was intelligent enough to expose their ignorance.
They see it as christianity-bashing, and want to defend christianity, but it would help their case if they read the book first, then asked questions. It'd also help if they were unbiased to begin with, but I don't see that happening, especially on fox "news".
It gets better: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013...at-lauren-green-interview-with-zealot-author/ Fox tries to defend their ignorance by blaming "liberal media" and "Fox bashing" for their inability to review a book nobody at Fox had obviously read. Yes, it's the liberals that make you morons.
...and soon it shall be noted to be Obama's fault.... ...since we are talking about fox "news".......here, after all.
Not even O'Really's. He's just there to make idiotic comments to boost sales for his books...as a marketing strategy. Watch, he'll have another out soon, I bet...since he's being even more smug and self-appreciating than usual lately.
Cliff notes may have helped in this case. Just a thought. One that apparently nobody at Fox thought of. Honestly I try to stay out of the "Fox News" thing. Really not much to say but this is classic stupidity in action.
Fox does play well with the angry white guy crowd. I mean they do have their audience. View attachment 1877
So the OP speaks for itself and there isn't much you can do or say but shake your head and be disgusted by the Islamophobia Fox regularly spews. Who they are catering to is another wide open topic that we could go on about endlessly. Lindsey Graham, in a moment of accidental honestly rarely seen from the Right, pretty much nails the Fox audience. "Angry white guys" is certainly what we experience from the Righties on a daily basis in this forum and they certainly post a lot of Fox cut-n-pastes and parrot a lot of narratives only found on Fox, so I have to ask,... As a dying breed, do you really believe that your nostalgia for the 1960's and even the 1950's coupled with your rampant angry persona is going to prevent America from becoming the multicultural nation it will inevitably become with or without you? As further proof of your intransigent white superiority complex, let us look at your most recent candidate and his entire campaign staff at your convention not to mention his wife that felt that it was her "turn" although she doesn't appear in the photo. Observe white America. View attachment 1878
Yet the democrap candidate in 2016 will be chosen from Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton or John Kerry while the rest of their time will be spent marginalizing any minority who dares lean conservative.
Fortunately, the vast majority of minorities have the good sense to never "lean" bat-shit Tea Party crazy. WE elected the first minority president, we'll elect the first female president, you'll run another white guy in 2016. Wanna bet money?
I'd say it's because Aslan was speaking about christianity. Both are muslims, but Esposito's works appear to be focuses on islamic culture, where Aslan's work included christianity. christians, especially those at fox "news", likely don't believe a muslim is capable of writing "fairly" (read: "dogma") about christianity, In other words: It irked the heck out of christians/fox "news" that a muslim dared to write about christianity.
I'm not sure why you would characterize my comment as "racist". I just wish she had read the book and prepared more revealing questions. It didn't appear that she even read the book's dust jacket. It seems (to me) that she was promoting an opposing view by quoting Christian theologians...without having them there to substantiate their comments. I'm not saying she's wrong...it just seems like a sloppy interview (imho).
