Abortion boy, pointless boy, and picture boy live in a bubble that can't be penetrated least of all by "Lib-rals". I have a good laugh at their expense but I am quite aware that stupid isn't fixable. There hasn't been a simple-minded Right-wing nut slogan they don't believe hook, line, and sucker. For them, narratives replace evidence based thinking and you can't disprove a narrative, but you can disprove something with evidence. It's only when you present evidence that they go silent. I go silent when they throw out narratives. They are pointless to respond to. This why I have no illusion that they will ever learn from this forum. They can't and won't learn so making fun of them is the only reason I come here. It certainly drives Jack crazy and I look forward to all of his drunken rants whenever he happens to drive by. Good times, good times...
You claim to have answers, but I don't see any offered...just insults. You even admit that your purpose for posting is for your personal amusement and to "stir the pot". "If you don't make an effort to find a solution, you may be the problem." ...Yakpoo.
All Liberals have are "worn out talking points". I don't entirely disagree. But.... ....worn out talking points. Pot, meet kettle.
Several responses have been posted by the whacko wing of this forum but not a single attepmt to refute the OP.
I've asked you and the rest for specifics to no avail. Insults are all that is left. That is the environment that has been chosen. Why do think so few come here?
I agree that promotion of States' rights over Federal rights has been a long standing plank of the Republican party (since Ronald Reagan, anyway). However, Conservatives (and there are Conservatives in both major parties and Independent parties, as well) that believe when you tax something, you get less of it. The way to address many of the problems that face this country (both social and economic) is to expand the tax base (to the vast underground economy of illegal aliens, criminals, and tax cheats) by taxing consumption rather than income. Repealment of the 16th Amendment is not a talking point of either major party...but necessary to move the country forward. "Subverting the tax code is the life-blood of both the Democratic and Republican parties." ...Yakpoo.
I just gave you two (2) excellent ideas in Post #57...let's break them down and discuss the specifics. I would love to hear any constructive ideas you care to offer.
No, I'll leave that to someone who cares. My only point was that what you are offering up is nothing but tired worn out talking points that have been around forever. If you're going to criticize your opposition for that sort of thing then for your part you need to come up with something fresh and different. Lower taxes and limited government don't meet your own criteria in this regard.
Then why do you respond if you don't care? Lower taxes and limited government may be "tired worn out talking points" to you, but they're actually bedrock principles to which the country should adhere. These are proven principles as opposed to socialistic, progressive, liberal "reform" initiatives that fail miserably over and over again. Damn the democrats and liberals for attempting to ruin this great country. I don't believe they realize they're doing it, but they surely are. Their programs are bankrupting us. It's time our citizens moved away from the "gimme" entitle-ment-mentality of people like IQLess1 and the suckling tit of the democrat party. People are entitled to work. They're entitled to make money and enjoy life. They're not entitled to suck the lifeblood out of everyone else which is what the democrat party enables them to do.
You see...that's where you're incorrectly reading your thoughts into what I say...I never said anything about lowering taxes. I said we should repeal "direct taxation"...aka. 16th Amendment...aka. the Federal Income Tax and replaced it with a Federal Consumption tax. A Consumption tax will "expand" the tax base to foreign imports and bring in much needed "additional" revenues to balance the budget. A Consumption tax will also reign in our out-of-control spending by encouraging citizens to become politically "aware" of how their vote affects them personally. It's much easier to pass some crazy spending bill if the voter thinks you're paying for it with "someone else's money".
Great replies, both of you, but when you throw something like "principle" out to a liberal they have no idea what you're talking about. And at any suggestion of a Fair method of taxation they'll shut down the conversation entirely. When I just joined this forum it was to discuss the Fair Tax but I found out quickly how opposed liberals are to anything that fairly distributes the pain & responsibility of funding the gov't.
#2 tries to blame the Republicans for no middle class. #5 blames the Republicans for not passing jobs bills. (refuted several times over) #6 says the Republican party is paralyzed. The Democrats have the Republicans out numbered 2 to 1. Yet somehow you blame all the troubles on the one Unless I missed something, the OP was about the DEMOCRATS (you know - The party in charge) expanding the income inequality.
I'm willing to try if you are. Your post #57. Conservatives recommend... 1. Expand the tax base by stopping taxation on productivity and tax consumption (repeal the 16th Amendment). 2. Restrict the Federal government to just those duties as outlined in the Constitution and return all other services to the States where they belong and where the funding can be more efficiently administered. #1 I assume that you do not want to tax income but you do want a sales tax. How much would that method realistically bring in? Do you have numbers? I wouldn't mind not having my income taxed, I just wonder what the figures would be if we were to relying on a sales tax alone. #2 I assume that each state would have it's own airforce, the internet would be regulated differently in each state, interstate roads wouldn't exist, well you get the idea. The problem is that we are a more mobile society than ever. Once upon a time, we were not as connected as we are today. The Constitution didn't take this interconnectivity into consideration either nationally or globally. How would the multitude of cross stateline issues be addressed by a document written over 200 years ago? It is just not realistic.
I was responding to his accusing his opposition of constantly coming up with the same old stuff and then following that accusation by himself coming up with the same old stuff. Nothing more, nothing less. It wasn't a comment on the validity or lack thereof of his views, old, tired, or otherwise. Once again you've succeeded in missing the simple point of a simple observation
Why not? We would still be borrowing over $1T/year from China. That is plenty to take care of the roads.
