With his wife by his side, Anthony Weiner said Tuesday he's not dropping out of the New York City mayoral race despite new revelations that he sent additional lewd photos and text messages after he left Congress in disgrace for his prior online chats.​

Weiner, who resigned his House seat in June 2011 after acknowledging having sexual conversations with at least a half-dozen women, told a hastily called news conference he would stay in the race despite the new onslaught of negative publicity.​

​

“I’m sure many of my opponents would like me to drop out of the race but I’m not going to do it,” he said, adding, he hoped the people of New York were "willing to still continue to give me a second chance."​

Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, told reporters that she loved her husband and had forgiven him.​

​

“Our marriage has had its ups and its downs,” Abedin said standing next to Weiner. “It took a lot of work and a whole lot of therapy to get to the place where I can forgive Anthony. It was not an easy choice but I made the decision that it was worth staying in this marriage. It was a decision I made for me, my husband and our son.”​

Weiner said that while acknowledging responsibility for his behavior, "in many ways, things are not that much different than they were yesterday. This behavior that I did was problematic to say the least, destructive to say the most, caused many stresses and stains in my marriage. But I am pleased and blessed that she has given me a second chance."​

The newest allegations against Weiner come just weeks after launching his bid for New York City mayor.​

The congressman fessed up to the naughty texts after sexually explicit photos and online chats between "Carlos Danger," allegedly the pseudonym for the city hall hopeful, and an unidentified woman surfaced on the blog, TheDirty.com.​

​

The reports claim that that the conversation between the pol and an unidentified 23-year-old woman took place on the social media website Formspring in August 2012, a year after he resigned from his post in Congress after being caught the first time -- and nearly seven months after his first child with wife Abedin was born.​

Of course he's not dropping out...revelations such as this only serve to strengthen his position within the party. If he didn't have the bona fides to be a player in the democrap party before, he does now!

The name is funny but what's funnier is how this perv is still running & has so much support from the democraps.

 

I said this about Anthony "Carlos Danger" Weiner in June, 2011. In my opinion, his repeated indiscretions have shown that he is not capable of good judgment. If he doesn't drop out of the race, New Yorkers may still elect him as their Mayor, but I can't think of any good reason why they should. He appears to treat women merely as sex objects in contrast to the lip service (no pun intended) he pays to them regarding "equal rights for women", blah.. blah.. blah.

The guy is as phony as the day is long.

I completely agree that people like Weiner and Filner have no business representing any political party and they should go immediately. I have no problem with infidelity, gay affairs, or any other sexual "scandal" as long as no one is being hurt. What people choose to do outside of work is their own business.
Clearly, both political parties have their share of these losers and most do not rise to the level that they should be thrown out of office simply for a sex related escapade as long as it doesn't affect co-workers. Where I have objections is policy. If your policy is to suppress women's rights, women's pay, women's access to health care, then you do damage to women on a social scale. That is far, far greater than a handful of women that happened to be exposed to some local loser with too much testosterone for his own good.
As long as the Right wing nuts keep passing policy after policy that adversely affects women, they are in no position at all to cast aspersions on people even like Anthony Weiner. They do far more damage to women then any one lone pervert could possible do. Yet, in situations like Weiner and Filner, they are the first to pile on purely for political points as if they have a leg to stand on. They don't. It's like the arsonist hanging around a burning building to criticize the way the firemen are fighting the fire. You have to stop for a minute and remember where your own party is on the issues before you start criticizing someone else's situation otherwise you are just an arsonist in denial.

As far as I can tell Weiner was in several mutual sexual relationships, where no sexual harassment actually occurred, but republicans want him gone.

Filner, on the other hand, actually sexually harassed women, by making sexual advances towards women who were not actually sexually involved with him in any way, yet republicans here think that's fine.

Welcome to surreality.
