    We missed an anniversary yesterday!

On July 18, 1969 a drunk Teddy Kennedy drove his car off a bridge and left a young woman there to die thus propelling himself to prominence in the democRAT party.

Power and influence. It's not limited to any particular party. VP Dick shot someone in the face...in the face...and drove off, leaving his "friend" behind. Both should have been arrested and had a day in court. Both would have gotten off on "technicalities".

The wealthy, the powerful, the influential,...they have different rules for themselves...because they make the rules.

What's unique to the left, though, is how the scum typically are elevated by the party after one of these scandals. Remember, Kennedy went on to be the party patriarch after this happened & he is responsible for BO's presidency.

    The most significant thing about
Yeah, back during the Nixon administration I guess it was almost impossible to put a Democrat pol or would-be pol on trial for anything at all.

The most significant thing about Chappaquiddick in 2013 is that no one cares about it aside from you and some other RW freaks. No one has cared for decades. In fact I think most people probably stopped caring about it within at most a couple of years after the event.

It was a tragic accident that despite years and years of Republican efforts has never gotten much political traction, has failed to benefit them politically in any significant way, and has had little or no long-term effect on anything. But of course feel free to keep trying to make it an issue for as long as you want. One more pointless pursuit that will keep you occupied and out of trouble. RIP Mary Jo.

Probably. In view of the fact that he's dead, I don't see any alternative. The nut bag can put it on their agenda along with impeaching Obama, pulling out of the UN, and making Christianity the state religion.

I think that would be the way it would have to go. After all, they're considering pardoning Turing postumously (Source). Did you have some other form of JUSTICE in mind?

I think if you're going to try that dirtbag Ted Kennedy posthumously, then you should set up trials for all the villains in history. Start with Cain and work forward. Kennedy killed Mary Jo Kopechne with his car, but it's a bit late to try him now. Though never tried in a criminal court, Kennedy was found by the Democrats to be one of the better worthless scumbag members of their rank.

    Inouye doubts Iran-Contra testimony, July 18, 1987

By ANDREW GLASS | 7/18/13 5:03 AM EDT
On this day in 1987, Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), chairman of the Senate Select Committee investigating the Iran-Contra scandal, cast doubt on the testimony of Rear Adm. John M. Poindexter, President Ronald Reagan’s former national security adviser. Poindexter told the legislators that Reagan lacked any knowledge of the sale of U.S. arms to Iran and the use of the proceeds to fund insurgents seeking to topple an anti-American government in Nicaragua.

But Rep. Dick Cheney (R-Wyo.), vice chairman of the House Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions with Iran, defended Reagan while voicing his beliefs in the broad powers of the executive branch.

The Senate and House investigatory panels had elected to hold joint hearings, which began on May 5. They followed by some two months the release of a report on the matter by a commission chaired by former Sen. John Tower (R-Texas).

A congressional majority report, issued on Nov. 18, concluded that “the common ingredients of the Iran and Contra policies were secrecy, deception and disdain for the law.” It found that a “small group of senior officials believed that they alone knew what was right.”

A minority report, signed by Cheney, five other Republican congressmen and two Republican senators, said: “President Reagan and his staff made mistakes in the Iran-Contra affair. It is important at the outset, however, to note that the president himself has already taken the hard step of acknowledging his mistakes and reacting precisely to correct what went wrong. He has directed the National Security Council staff not to engage in covert operations. He has changed the procedures for notifying Congress when an intelligence activity does take place. Finally, he has installed [new] people with seasoned judgment to be White House chief of staff, national security adviser, and director of central intelligence.”

    I highlighted 2 pieces from fog-of-war's cut & paste...
    1) Unlike BO's "secret" moves, Reagan was using his power in fighting our enemies...BO is using his power to attack political opponents & spy on the citizens
    2) Errors were acknowledged & fixes put in place. Under BO it's only blame someone else & find something to distract the people.

    Good C&P foggy

The interesting thing about that report Teddy pasted here was that Iran Contra came to light in November 1986. It was tried with hearings, recommendations made and reports issued by 7/18/13 5:03 am. That is 8 months. Benghazi was 9/11/12. That is already 10 months ago and no one has even been able to talk to the personnel who were at the attack. And Obama was supposed to have an open presidency? BULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
