Obama to be Known as the Drone President?

George Washington was known for winning the Revolutionary War. Abe Lincoln known for his Gettysburg Address. Teddy Roosevelt for his big stick. FDR for his New Deal. and so on....

Barak Obama will be known for his drones. The "unmanned combat air vehicles" he's been using both overseas and at home to kill his enemies. There's a lot of symbolism there, in my opinion, what do you guys think?

Killing Americans via drones will be only one thing Obama will be known for. The Obamacare tax will probably be the main one, but he will also be known for letting our fellow Americans die in Benghazi, presiding over the IRS scandal which targeted his political opponents, presiding over the most intrusive invasion into American freedoms and liberties via the NSA, attacking the Fourth Estate via corruption in his Department of "Justice", allowing guns to cross our southern border which were used to kill our own agent, attempting to restrict our Second Amendment right and signing the NDAA into law which allows him to detain people indefinitely without trial or legal representation.

Any one of those is enough to label him as a terrible president. Add them all together and you have one of the worst in our nation's history.

I'll be expecting a drone to be flying over my house any time now.......

Most of the things you mention aren't something the American people will remember beyond 2016. The trashing of the Bill of Rights generally, but the drones as a symbol of that, I believe is what will be remembered. I don't see Obamacare being a lasting legacy, because I don't see it lasting. Operation Fast and Furious? People are already forgetting about that.

Too early to tell, but I doubt the drones issue is going to be what his Presidency will be remembered for a hundred years from now.

Most likely it will be the health care insurance mandate, and being the first black President, of course. ;)

Other issues. aside from drones and the health care insurance mandate, will include continuing the NSA intrusions into privacy, the unsuccessful efforts to contain leaks of information in the digital age, and probably one of the biggest will be the republican's obstinate behavior during his Presidency.

My top four guesses, in order of remembrance one hundred years from now:

    1. First Black president.
    2. Health care insurance mandate.
    3. republican obstruction and empty accusations
    4. Digital age issues regarding secrecy of information

Other notables (not mentioned yet here) will be troop withdrawals from Iraq and Afghanistan, international diplomacy issues (related to digital issues), and the Clean Energy push...which is unlikely to succeed during his second term as President, given republican obstructionism...which is why I add it as an "also noted" thing, and not a "top four" thing.

At least it's good to see that Pete doesn't see "First Black President" as being most noteworthy, which I choose to see as being progress for equality, and not anger at drone usage. ;)

I think any means by which a country can eliminate people facing fire on the battlefield is great. So, if he's remembered for his drone attacks, then thats a legacy better than being known for leading men to war and death over nothing, like the last guy.

    I seriously doubt drones will have anything to do with his legacy. I will try clueless's approach and say;
    1.) Bankrupting the US
2.) Leading the best medical system in he world into a train wreck.
3.) The most scandal ridden administration ever.

The country was bankrupt and in deeper debt when he took office than it is today.
The best medical system in the world? Ha! I'm too befuddled to even think of a proper response to that load. Maybe the worst is what you meant.

But...Saddam tried to kill his daddy...isn't that a good enough reason?

Oh, and oil of course. We want it, we go and get it. It's still part of our national security policy today, to take oil if we must, using any means.

And profiteering for select corporations and "good ol" boys". Certain individuals profited handsomely during the period, with "no bid" contracts awarded to select companies where they shouldn't have been. Tons of money is missing. Literally, tons of money. Some of that no doubt went into Iraq's and Afghanistan's leader's hands (it always does), but a lot has gone missing completely. Where's the audit? There ain't one that can find it lol

And then there's the military's need to have combat...they do not like being idle...and the combat pay is better...and battlefield service helps the retirement packages for the generals and other officers.

    IMO

(I have to add "IMO" because republicans here have difficulty understanding...everything...and make a fuss if I don't )

Where's that Jamaican wet-nurse, anyway? Anyone see David lately?

Maybe "that money can buy" is necessary to put it into perspective for non-republicans. republicans themselves wouldn't understand anyway, so I've excluded them from this explanation.

How on earth is Obama's $17T in debt larger than the $10T when he took office? Please explain.
An interesting fact about our medical system - beside being the inventor of nearly every major drug/procedure, we also have the longest live expectancy when suicides (and I think murders) are excluded.

You are so hung up on blaming the Republicans, you did not even notice we were talking about Obama - whose father died some time ago and was not in Saddam's sights.

You know why there are more pharmaceutical companies in the US than anywhere else? Because we have the highest cost per capita for basic health than anywhere else. So, naturally, they locate where the money is.

    How to avoid the question!
    What about $10T versus $17T?
What about the longest life expectancy?
FWIW, we also have the highest "cost per capita" for just about everything.

"...and I thing murders..." means someone is to exasperated to write "think" correctly.

I may as well point that out to someone so fond of pointing things out.

republicans intentionally forget that Jr. did not add the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions and occupations to the tally on the debt, as an accounting of the costs associated with those invasions and occupations.

In other words: he fudged the numbers so republicans can make idiotic claims on forums.

Ok, RLM, just so you're happy, the ND rose 50% under Obama. It rose 112% under Bush, did you complain then? Employment is up. Medical premiums are also up, by more than 20% and actually our health standards have fallen for the first time blow those of most third world countries. If our health care system wasn't broken, everyone would be covered, plain and simple. If people knew what the word socialism was and not what Nazi connotations conservatives falsely put upon it, they'd see what our socialist neighbors are doing and how well free medical and education are doing for them, versus our deteriorating systems and out of reach programs.

But, of course, if you want to blame Obama for the world's woes and want to live a 1920's southern shut-in style...thats the great thing about America, you can.

Excuse my ignorance for wanting to improve things, not retain or go back to the broken. Is Obama the solution? No. Neither was Bush, or Clinton, or Lincoln or Washington. The solution isn't an idiotic idea of party lines, conservative or liberal. Those are merely the problems.

It rose less during the 8 years of Bush than during the 4 years of Obama.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_...s-increased-more-under-obama-than-under-bush/
Oh, and those numbers show a 75% increase under Bush in 8 years but a 75% increase under Obama in just 5 years.
And if our health system is so broken, why are there lines of Canadian coming to America for treatment? Even British are coming here. And, please name another developed country where they do not have rationed health care.
