I can't believe it's been over a week since this craziness has passed ...and that I'm only now learning of it.

The House of Representatives passed an amendment to the Department of Homeland Security's 2014 "spending bill", that keeps the department from being able to purchase bulk orders of ammunition without their approval!

The reason? They fear the government wants to kill them !!!

House votes to delay bulk ammunition purchase by DHS
By Pete Kasperowicz - 06/05/13 11:01 PM ET

The House late Wednesday voted to stop the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) from entering into new contracts to buy millions of rounds of ammunition until the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports to Congress on the need for the ammo, and its cost.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) proposed an amendment to the DHS spending bill for 2014 that would require the report to Congress before it can pursue plans to buy 1.1 billion rounds of ammunition. Meadows said the speed bump is a necessary reaction to news of the huge purchase, which alarmed many Americans and prompted conservative groups to suspect that the government was stocking up on the rounds to fight citizens.

OMG, how to get something twisted. I heard of this months ago. And the reasoning was because there was such a high demand that the giant orders by the government were both raising prices and eliminating supplies. PERIOD!

More interesting amendments to the DHS's spending bill:
    So much for reducing spending.

One woman kills an American, and Brazil declines to extradite her, so Ryan wanted to block all immigration from Brazil? Democrat gone insane?

Another Dem. Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is full of sweeping generalities? Scary sweeping generalities.

So some haven't? Is he suggesting some detainees are innocent? Hmmmmm

    The War on People continues.

I had to look up what the 287(g) program is:
Ahhhh, so Gingrey wants local cops to "take care of the problem", since the feds will just interfere with "local justice". Got it.

The House of Representatives in America is power-mad. The Senate is too, but not to the degree the House is.

The House usurps the powers of the judicial on whims of grandiosity, like any dictator would. They hold courts and force person after person to stand in front of them and answer questions designed not to find the truth, but to distort the truth, for purely political reasons. Anyone failing to bow to their ill-gotten powers are publicly condemned or even imprisoned, with no trial and no judge. It should be criminal, but they make the laws. They distort laws to suit there needs, at the cost of democracy.

They usurp the powers of the Executive whenever they feel like taking them, which is whenever they can convince enough of their party to support their actions.

In this way, a small group of individuals can prey on the weak among the entire House, convincing them to do wrong. Some of those followers are weak-minded fools. They follow because they don't have the common sense to see what these people are doing. Others follow willingly though, because they are corrupt, and enjoy grabbing more power.

These power grabs should be criminal, but they make it legal, because they make the laws.

    They are power mad.

    IMO, ;)

Anyone else hear the bleating of sheep?

I swear I heard a sheep somewhere. An old one, all raspy and republican? No?

It is four in the morning, so I guess I could just be dreaming.

    (sniffs)

I swear I can smell a republican though. Maybe it's the trout I ate earlier. But trout doesn't smell like old farts.

Eh, I'll sleep on it ...later.

All right, I'll stop stoking republican's anxieties, and the Democrat's as well.

    "Congress is corrupt!" LOL

"Duhhhhh." But I'm just poking fun at morons here.

All fun and games aside, I'll TELL them why the government is buying huge quantities of ammunition.

    Syria.

As with Jr.'s administration prior to the invasion of Iraq, the idea is to have assets in place.

For example: Several months prior to the invasion of Iraq, the Jr. administration ordered assets to get into an "invasion" position in the gulf region. That takes time. Months of planning, stocking and maneuvering.

I wonder how many of you think I'm telling you that the U.S. is going to invade Syria.

    I'm not.

I'm telling you that before the Obama administration can publicly say "We're arming the rebels in Syria" they have to have the ammunition first.

The government, using the DHS, may or may not be allowed to do this, I'm unclear on that, but my gut says that it is indeed a legal means to procure ammunition to give to the rebels.

But, this thread is about how the republicans are violating the government's Second Amendment rights.

If the government were the ones saying that citizens couldn't purchase ammunition without their expressed approval, lawsuits would fly from the left and the right and many republicans would go on shooting rampages.

Not so? So, they are not "people"?

Did you forget the ruling that says corporations are people too?

If corporations are people, as the law now states, so are any and all departments of government. So the government itself is a "person" under the law, IMO.

You wanted it, you got it. Don't cry foul when the tables are turned on you. Our corporations and our governments are now "people".

The government should sue all these congressmen and women for violating their Second Amendment rights.

Put 'em all in a mock trial, ala Congress, and lock 'em up. Fair's fair. They do it to everyone else, let's see how they handle it when they are the ones facing prison sentences for "potential violations". I want it on CSPAN, so I can see them stammer and sweat and cry.

The funniest chit out of all of this has to be how many republicans automatically assume that the government is after them, that the government wants to storm every nook and cranny in the U.S. in a hunt to capture and or kill republicans.

As if they would even do such a thing. As if they even could do such a thing.

republicans in particular are prone to paranoia, and violent outbursts when overwhelmed by fear and anger, so this is no laughing matter.

It would be laughable, if it hadn't caused millions of borderline insane people to buy up as much ammunition as they could get their hands on. It would be funny, except that now there's all these belligerent paranoids out there with itchy trigger fingers.

Get a grip on reality, dumb-asses. If you want to get shot, you're heading the right way. If you want peace, shut the hell up and think for a minute, you mindless baboons.

OP edit: I'm unsure as to the date this was passed, either last Wednesday or the week before, not that it matters much.

You can't hear of a specific event occurring months ago when it happened within the last week or so. That's called a "brain-fart". Turn off your computer and drink plenty of water. Remember to pee when you have to. Under no circumstances should you attempt to turn the computer on again, as it will immediately cause a relapse and your house will smell like chit again.

NOTE: Opening the windows is an environmental hazard, if you are a republican. Give a hoot, don't toot.

You really think that they wrote, discussed and passed this bill all in one day?

And, to top that off, I seriously doubt that the Constitution gives any "rights" to the Federal Government. In fact it does exactly the opposite. It protects the rights of the individuals at the expense of the federal government.

1.1 billion rounds is all they want? Heck, I know rednecks that could sell them that much and not even make a dent in their stockpile. Now, lets see which black 1984 Suburbans pull up out front.

One guy on here suggested that I was breaking federal law on some comment I wrote, so I told him to contact the FBI and have them investigate me...or he himself may be investigated for failing to disclose it to them.

It's been half a year, maybe a year, maybe more, but I haven't had any black suburbans pull up outside yet. Oh well.

    [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

    As for the bulk order:

I can't say for sure, I'm only guessing as to the need for it, but it makes sense...if we are going to provide small arms to the rebels in Syria, they will also need ammo, and lots of it.

But I'm sure I'm completely mistaken and Obama is going to send all available personnel to raid and confiscate all firearms across the country.

Never mind the fact that around half the people he'd send would join the other side and fight against the government themselves, given that at least half of our "police forces" are republican and every one of them enjoys the privilege of owning and firing firearms.

I love conspiracy nuts. They are so easy to rile and they can't think worth a damn. "Real" Americans, right? If that's the case, if they are the people that win the reins of power (which they manage to do, as evidenced in all areas of politics) we're dooooomed.

Oh wait, yeah, we're boned. :D

In addition to this republican assault on the Second Amendment, here are more examples of republicans ignoring the Constitution whenever they feel like it:
That last quote is now obsolete. republicans are now violating the government's Second Amendment rights, who have some pretty damn good "regulated militias" of their own. ;)

    More Constitutional violations by republicans:
    The specifics of the above:
    More violations:
    And more:
Ain't this fun? I wanna hear more about Democrats violating the constitution...so I can respond with more quotes about republican hypocrites doing that a hundred times more often than the Democrats. Don't disappoint me now, or I'll just HAVE to show everyone how Socialism is being advanced by republicans.

    Ohhhhh, I'm so tempted. :D
