#1 Well she did. Just as Obama had the Black vote pretty well sewn up, and not just the Black curmudgeon vote either. To state that certain candidates tend to appeal to certain ethnic and generational demographics is a commonplace in American politics. #2 Does "white" modify "hooded"? Or does it modify "buddies"? If the former, it's irrelevant. If the latter, it is probably superfluous at worst. #s 3 and 4 He is referring variously to racists, and racist behavior in others, and/or accusing you of being racist. None of which says anything definite one way or the other about his own thinking, although the tone strongly implies that he disapproves of racists.
Believe as you wish. Make all the excuses you can. It does not change the facts. BTW, using race as a pejorative definitely qualifies as racist to me and most of the rest of the peoples I know. Anyone you know like being called a nigger? A cracker? A whop? etc.?
You mean the Left wing, uneducated, young, black. gang banger vote ? But so many things are in the wording...not that there is anything wrong with that.
I'm not sure that gang-bangers are a major voting block, but to the extent that they vote at all I doubt that many of them were in the Mormon Freak camp, so yeah. Mormonism btw is of course a choice, just as gangbangerism is. Or being a Kluxer. Choices are fair game for both approbation and criticism. Well obviously you're fine with whatever wording has gone down so far, so life is good. Next.
Etc, yes. Don't forgot chink. And the answer is no. But there is a difference between referring disparagingly or mockingly to other people who use those words or accusing people of being in sympathy with those who use them and using them oneself. "Cracker, I think is a tough one. I believe it defines a mentality more than a race. While crackers are probably exclusively white people, not all white people are crackers. On the other hand, nigger, whop, slant, and so on refer to everyone of a given race with no regard to anything other than skin color or ethnicity.
People are mean. People are stupid. People are racist and people are prejudiced. That's just a start if you get down to it and you can't always narrow down which people fit any given descripton. Makes it interesting.
You have to remember that these are the same people that support and defend a political party that currently and very actively tries in state after state to curtail the voting rights of minorities, the poor, and the elderly. They have such low minority support across the country that they don't even bother trying to court the non-white vote. They are losing, not gaining, minority votes every election. They have to pretend that the southern solid red racist states belong to the Democrats. So is it any wonder that they twist themselves into pretzels accusing others of racism even though they themselves support and defend and make every excuse possible for their racist political party? Denial is not just a river in Egypt to them.
America is going to hell, according to all those old, white, bigoted, sexually confused and repressed men that are left in the Capital. I mean, it must have been tough for them to watch all those black men and women take their seats in government, only to have all those hispanics think they can do the same thing. Now gays? Holy chit. What's next? Chinks?... (ducks brick thrown by Takiji) ...Nice throw! You almost got me, but you throw like a girl... ... Ma....put the brick down...I was just funnin'...
Yeah I guess it was so much better when we all knew our place and stayed there. BTW, for your information I'm a total mongrel. "Takiji" is Japanese. But there's enough "Chink" solidarity there to warrant a brick in your direction fellah, so watch it. That's right. Don't piss Little Missy off.
I believe I can clarify that a bit: Say I'm walkin' down a street in Chicago, and some dude calls me a "cracker". I turn to the boy and say "Your mama's name must be 'Polly', 'cause the bitch won't stop callin' me beggin' for sex." ...then I run like hell. OK, maybe that didn't clarify, but it sure was fun
Most people are, but they don't usually think of it that way. For people of European decent in particular, the idea that none of your recent ancestor's engaged in sexual relationships with other races/nationalities is completely ignorant of the human animal's sexual tendencies and behaviors. I personally identify with the Finnish people/clans/whatever, and have a lot of their characteristics, but I'm fully Americanized. My grandmother spoke Finnish exclusively. She was born in 1900 in Finland, and made the trip here when she was six, I think.
Perhaps, but in practical terms that is meaningless. Your "race" for purposes of racism is determined by the color of your skin and hair and the color and shape of your eyes. It doesn't matter that Obama is half white, or that Tiger Woods is half Asian (Thai). And it certainly doesn't matter that we all share common African ancestors. They look Black, therefore they are Black.
It doesn't bother me. But I also don't pretend their isn't a racial intent to what is said when things are worded that way and try to pass it off as just a comment on demographics. Just like some of the 'weiner' barbs' that Joe and David traded or calling conservative blacks tokens, I believe there is an underlying reason for them.
How is it racist to say that White Republicans value Conservative Blacks as important "tokens" of multiracialism in a party that is overwhelmingly White. It may or may not be true, but I don't think it's racist.
I have to admit that my dog is a racist. I didn't realize it when I got him from the shelter. He seemed a little rough when we first got him. He came from a hoarding situation in Oklahoma. That's not a slam on Coiny, it's a fact. He trained up real well but whenever he sees anyone that isn't as white as he is, he goes nuts barking. If you ain't this white, my dog hates you. Token is a racially charged word when applied to minorities, especially blacks. Again, dismiss it if you want, but there is a meaning behind it and it is not racially positive.
If anyone is being racist here it's the Republicans who engage in tokenism. It's not the people who point out that the Republicans are doing it. Nor of course is it the "tokens" themselves.
Why would that be a slam on me? I applaud you for rescuing him. Good job. As far as his "racism" goes, you could probably train that out of him if you really wanted to. Cute dog, btw.
