I don't believe this statistic at all. You may be able to find some poll, somewhere that backs up your claim but I seriously doubt 90% of the population wants this. **How would expanded background checks differ from the background checks already in place?

Well, if I had to give a yes/no answer to that question my response would probably be yes too but there's a lot more to it than that, wouldn't you agree? By the way, you didn't answer as to how the current background check differs from the dem-proposed expanded background checks.
The only real difference as I understand it is that the current background checks would simply be expanded to include private gun sales transactions. I know that there are other minor provisions but the expanded background checks is the primary difference. Even this was too extreme for the NRA. Even large majorities of NRA members in poll after poll wanted these expanded checks. These are most likely sane NRA members but the NRA no longer represents hunters, target enthusiasts, and sportsman, they represent gun manufacturers.
