The president disbanded the Jobs Council. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/president-obama-jobs-council-disbands/story?id=18366550 I guess he is going to rely on his own policies to get the economy rolling. In other news today; The economy shrank in the 4th quarter last year http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/president-obama-jobs-council-disbands/story?id=18366550 Unemployment rose on the latest report http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2013/02/01/Unemployment-up-01-point/UPI-43271359725679/ More people left the jobs market than were hired http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2013/02/01/Unemployment-up-01-point/UPI-43271359725679/ Apparently Obama does not care if people are unemployed - or maybe that is his objective. That way everyone will be dependent on HIS government. Let'e see how well that works.
Let's see how much of this post is mendacious bullshit: According to the cited source: According to the cited source: Lies? Failure of ability to comprehend the written word? Malicious ignorance? The economy shrank at least in part because the government spent less. Gee, I thought Republicans were all for less government spending. I guess I was wrong about that. So how bad was it? Surely it must be significant, otherwise our own Chicken Little wouldn't be squawking, right? Well it was a whole 1/10 of a percent!!!!. Better stock up on ammunition and dried soup, the end is nigh! Yes, another horrible change, this time, unemployment rose a dizzying 1/10 of a percent!!!!. Lets take a look at the dismaying details, shall we? Apparently rlm's cents can't stop spewing alarmist malarkey.
The function of the jobs council was to increase employment and bring the economy into recovery. How well has that worked for you? Although your source says defense spending was cut, it says nothing about total spending. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Govern...eck-Federal-Spending-Increased-in-4th-Quarter Actually, unemployment is running in excess of 10% if it were still based on the same participation rate as when Obama took office. If you will notice, my source also says those in the job market also decreased by 366,000. i.e. they gave up looking for a job. Again, allowing the unemployment rate to ONLY go up by 0.1%. Are you really trying to tell me that you think the economy is doing fine? I even live in a moderately successful state and I see major problems. All you have to do is look.
They simply feed off of the fear that they are continually fed from Right-wing media bubble conspiracy nonsense sources like FOX, Drudge, New Busters, Breitbart, and all of their other non-evidence based outlets. All they know at this point is how to be scared of everything. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
The number of people not in the workforce (that nearly 90 million) is almost certainly going to continue to increase as Baby Boomer retire. It is one reason we are screwed in our entitlement systems. We are absolutely going to continue to have less of a labor force supporting those who have exited the labor force.
So you want some good news? The peoples of he DC area are swimming in our money. 3 of the 10 richest counties in US are surrounding DC. You would think maybe they could spread a little of that wealth, wouldn't you? Speaking of financial news, remember when I told you that Illinois should have actually cut their spending in stead of just reducing it growth and increasing their taxes? http://www.partisanlines.com/threads/illinois-raises-income-taxes-by-66.3281/#post-56367 It kind of sounds like I was right. http://www.worldmag.com/2013/01/sig...ed_senate_business_hurricane_history_school_c
There are a lot more leaving the work force than those retiring. When people give up looking for a job, they are removed from the work force.
There are certainly people leaving the work force who are not retiring. But, about half of those 90 million not working are retired or disabled and not going to ever re-enter the work force. And thousands of Baby Boomers are reaching age 65 every day and will continue to do so for about 2 decades. But, yes, the number of truly unemployed people is horrible and much larger than the unemployment rates suggest.
Demographics! Exactly the reason we need to adjust Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid. In fact, we already have. It used to be that we had like a dozen workers supporting one retiree because the baby boomers were so plentiful. Now, those same baby boomers are retiring and there are only a few workers supporting them. This is the best reason to open up the gates and let younger immigrants come to this country. We need younger workers. We are an aging society. Go to Asia some time and look for elderly citizens. Everyone looks like they are in their early twenties. Japan which does not allow immigration has the same problem we do. They will have so few young people supporting such a huge population of retires that it is unsustainable. We could solve our problem with an influx of young immigrants. Nothing we haven't done in the past.
I guess it has nothing to do with the declining birthrates (most particularly in Japan) and the longer live expediencies then.
You do know that kind of sounds like a pyramid scheme? Not that I will be around to see it but what will the country do when the Immigrant Boomers brought in to pay for the Baby Boomers retirement reach retirement age themselves? Have a Super Immigrant Boom to pay for it? And then what about the Super Immigrant Boomers retirements? So if we are going to have an Immigrant Boom to pay for Social Security, we had better make it very selective. It will take a lot more Immigrant Retail Workers to support the Baby Boomers retirement than it will Immigrant Surgeons.
Perhaps the cloning process will be perfected by then. We can have clones to do the work and leprechauns to find new gold.
Just EXACTLY how high do the Democrats want to raise our taxes? View attachment 1448 http://www.mrc.org/articles/top-income-tax-rate-465-higher-100-years-after-tax-introduced
