Conservatives And Liberals Just See Things Differently...

There may have been a time, years ago, when liberals and conservatives shared many values, for the most part. Among those values were respect, stoicism, responsibility, honor and integrity. Certainly, liberals and conservatives had their political disagreements, but they still agreed on the core values in life.

I no longer see that from the liberals. It seems liberals want everything and don't want to pay for it. They want everyone to contribute and will force it upon you even if you disagree. They don't respect life in the womb anymore. They use violent tactics to achieve their goals (the Occupy movement). They use intimidation in the form of overpowering unions and threats to achieve what they want. They don't want to compromise.

They elect leaders like Barack Obama who sign legislation that allows indefinite detention in violation of our Fourth Amendment rights. They don't respect the Constitution and think it needs to be changed (but, only the parts that would benefit them). They don't respect the military (UC Berkeley, for example). They condemn people like the Koch Brothers, but applaud people like George Soros. They praise people like Bill Ayers who attempted to bomb the Pentagon. They see nothing wrong with having Communists as advisers to our president. They continue to push Socialism as a form of government when it's been proven to fail.

All these things, I consider in "poor taste" so to speak. There is something really screwed up in the modern, liberal mindset. Some of the pictures I've posted have been for fun. Others, like the baby in the womb that liberals would allow to be killed, are most serious.

So, try not to view the pictures as "rich vs. poor" (they're not intended that way), but as "taste vs. no taste". Or, as with the baby in the womb, "right vs. wrong".

The "us vs them" mentality is exactly what BO used to get re-elected, right?

I think the biggest diffeence between libs & the sane people is in how solutions to problems are viewed. Libs believe you coddle folks who are having a problem while conservatives look at what caused the problem in the first place & what needs to be done to make sure the same situation doesn't occur.

    Agreed.

"Conservative", to me, more or less means "thrifty"...which would make me one of the biggest conservatives here lol

BUT, what I got out of the OP (what I can see of it, anyway) is that "conservatives" see things as luxurious and expensive while "liberals" see things as cheap and in disrepair.

That doesn't make sense to me. In fact, I'd say "conservatives" see the value in cheap things that others would typically ignore. I use a rotary phone, for example.

Certainly, "conservative" means "thrifty" or "frugal". Think of it as the opposite of reckless spending.

And that's where you would be wrong. Nothing I posted was "cheap and in disrepair". Everything I posted as LIBERAL is just as valid as everything I posted as CONSERVATIVE. It's how you perceive it. A mudhole for someone can be just as fun as a concrete swimming pool. There are plenty of people in the world who would much rather drive that fussy VW Bug compared to the Cadillac. It's just your perception. You might consider the VW Bug as elegant whereas I don't. Like I said, who's to say who is right and who is wrong?

I applaud your conservative values. Hey, if the phone is working and it serves your need, there's no reason to replace it. In fact, there are plenty of people who see an old, rotary phone as much more elegant than a new iPhone. It's simply a matter of taste.

Thanks for the concern, it's quite touching.
Actually, "rehab" isn't far from the truth. I "rehabbed" a 200 year old log cabin that I had moved onto the farm. I started it just before Thanksgiving & it took a lot more work than I anticipated. Plus, we always travel to a few warm spots in Dec & Jan.

"Rehabbing" a 200 year old log cabin is quite the conservative thing to do, David. Congratulations! :)

Thanks. We moved it log by log. Originally, I thought we could move it & re-assemble it in 2 weeks but it took 2 months. It was worth it, though. Do you know how peaceful it is to sit on the porch & watch it snow? Or to sleep next to an old wood-burning stove?

....and the Caribbean is nice this time of year too!

Yes, I do and congratulations to you for being in a position where you can enjoy such things.

Careful, David. You don't want to make the lazy liberals jealous. Even though you've worked hard all your life for the things you've achieved and you deserve everything you've earned, they're not happy unless you help them pay for a trip to the Caribbean, too.

Yes I live in a log house I built with my father-in-law, he's one of those mountain man types who traps and makes his own jerky and fur clothing.

I guess the imaginary resort business must be kinda slow these days if you're having to live with the parents. Don't worry, BO will be gone in a fews years & hopefully we'll be able to pull out of this "new normal" he's created.

More power to you guys. I think I will continue to sit on the front porch of my house with things like electricity and indoor plumbing to watch it snow. We do have a fireplace and a fire pit for those time when we want to get all primitive and marvel at fire. :)

You know, when I moved off the farm, I swore I would never get on another tractor, never pick beans or corn and never bale hay. Now, those are the things I love to do the most.

You can have that too! My wife wants a garden this year and I am not even looking forward to that.

If I want nature, I fish or go for a hike in the national wildlife refuge up the street. Gardening/Farming is too much like work.

    lol

I think it's more of a pressure thing. When I was a kid we had to work our butts off to keep a roof over our heads & food on the table. Now I have no pressure, I just need a few things to throw on the grill if we decide we want 'em. Same thing with working. I had grown tired of the grind so I retired. Now, I'm more than happy to go back in & help on a few projects if they ask.
Being able to do these things at your own pace & in your own time gives you a different perspective.

Maybe you could do what my uncle did. When he retired and sold his big farm, he bought a few acres and two huge Belgium horses and plow his acres walking behind them. He did that well into his 80's.

That is what they lived for. He was born on a farm, raised on a farm until he could afford his own. It wound up mostly a dairy, but a nice one.
