I'm really conflicted here. I don't whether to cheer for FOX or laugh at Palin. Either response seems just as implausible to me. Well you can't say that she didn't milk the hell out of that 15 minutes.

An amicable parting. She's a good person and I wish the best to her.

If we were actually being honest here, you have no idea if she is a good person or not. Roger Ailes on the other hand does know her and says that she is stupid. You have your partisan bias and Alies has his first hand knowledge. So your opinion is just that, your opinion...if we were being honest here.

The news is not very surprising, but it does highlight, as much as anything, Palin's diminished relevance. Reports about the increasingly icy relationship between Palin and Fox News CEO Roger Ailes have been circulating for years. He has mocked her in public, and is said to have privately labeled her "stupid." Meanwhile, her public profile has waned as the years since her bid for the vice presidency grind on.

If the truth be told you have no idea what you're talking about. As usual. Carry on.

I didn't even know she worked for Fox. Truthfully, I have a hard time listening to her in any medium.

I do doubt she is truly 'stupid', though. She's college educated, been a mayor and a governor, authored books and been a political activist. All that doesn't mean that she is a rocket surgeon but it makes me think she is probably not 'stupid'.

Besides...Roger Ailes is a Republican and they all hate women anyway, right? Pretty odd source for a liberal to agree with. ;)

Stu, don't mistake ambition for intelligence. She went to like five different community colleges and ended up being a sportscaster, she was good looking enough to get the heavily male population of a small town to elect her and the same heavily male populated state to elect her governor, she never wrote a book in her life, they were ghost writers, and I can't even figure out why you think she was a political activist in any real sense of the word activist, she simply endorsed far Right-wingers. That isn't political activism as much as it is self-promotion in her case. Just another "public servant" serving her own interests. More power to her but her 15 minutes appears to be well over.

    P.S. Roger Ailes isn't stupid.

As they say... The problem with political jokes is that sometimes they get elected.

I just see a lot of misogynistic undertones to much of the Palin criticisms that have been sent her way over the years. I have seen a lot of stupid in my life and stupid usually doesn't accomplish much of anything.

Irritating, abrasive, opportunistic, sure. I am not a fan, for sure. But actually 'stupid'? I just don't agree.

I'm sorry, I just don't see misogyny in the criticism of Palin unless any criticism of a woman is misogyny. I think Tina Fey nail her perfectly when she mocked her as, "I like to think I'm one part practiced folksy, one part sassy and a little dash of high school bitchy." Stupid people tend to react defensively when challenged in any meaningful way. They come off as if they were cornered wild animals and lash out in every direction. That is how Palin behaves when she perceives an attack. Not as someone who knows her own positions but someone who must defend something she simply doesn't understand.

I know you don't see the undertones I see. You don't see the Uncle Tom stuff as having racist undertones either. We just disagree. But when I see:

"she was good looking enough to get the heavily male population of a small town to elect her and the same heavily male populated state to elect her governor"

I see something very similar to the things that have been said about successful women since they entered the work force. Slept her way to the top. Got the job cause she looks good in a skirt, etc. It makes me uncomfortable to hear that kind of stuff even though I don't like her.

She was the governor of a state. More of an accomplishment than most people make in life. Like I said, you don't have to be a rocket surgeon to be a governor...but stupid? I just doubt it.

When I see people make statements like, "...she was good looking enough to get the heavily male population..." it relegates women to nothing more than eye candy. But, you may be on to something, Little Joe. Everyone knows that Hillary blew her way to the top, ravishing beauty that she is. I mean, come on, you don't think Bill married her because of her brains, do you?

I realized how you would take that comment even as I was writing it but it was less a comment about Palin than it was about the Alaskan electorate. If you've ever experienced what Alaskans are like, you know that the saying women use to describe the men up there is, "The odds are good but the goods are odd". From my friends that live there to the times that I have been there myself, it is understood that these aren't exactly your typical lower 48 types. So I really wasn't knocking Palin, in fact, I called her good looking. I was really speaking to the oddness of the Alaskan electorate.

    Ah!! Got it. It is not JUST Palin who is stupid and irrelevant, it is Alaska in general including Palin. Somehow, I think it is the poster of such comment who has the problem. I read this somewhere;
Somehow I think it fits rather well in this case.
