I have no idea why I should give a crap about who rules Mali. But I am glad to see that we are providing only a support role while French and African troops make Mali safe for democracy or whatever the hell they are doing there.
What is interesting is the Azawad rebellion. I'm sure limiting the actual freedom of these people is a primary concern for the US.
I wonder if any of the wars Obama gets us involved with will last for 12+ years like those Bush got us in? hummm?
Boy! The concept of war sure has been diminished. It used to be that we'd send 100's of thousands of troops, millions of tons in equipment, and spend 2 billion a week. Now its a war because Rimmy says so. Wait until Congress finds out what Rimmy did.
I would also prefer that we weren't involved in an internal struggle in some pissant country where both sides are probably equally repugnant. But compared to the last 12 years of never ending war and nation building, this involvement is like a breath of fresh air. My only fear is that we are just saving up our efforts for Iran. The Conspiracy Theorist in me says to just wait until after the public gets bored of the gun stuff and the latest made up budget crisis is 'solved'. If Iran suddenly starts taking over the headlines, we are screwed.
