"Semi-automatics" sound deadlier, and they are, but most (hand) guns manufactured today are semi-automatic. Hell, even an old 1880s revolver could qualify for being semi-automatic in today's World, though revolvers are classed differently, I believe. The thing I see people arguing to limit is clip-size, and clip-size is important. If I remember correctly, the guy who shot Gifford was stopped from continuing his murderous shooting spree as he reloaded. One question I ask myself is: "What is a reasonable amount of ammunition?" That answer depends on area and what you are shooting. A squirrel can be killed easy enough with a single-shot 22, if you know how to shoot, but a few extra bullets can help those that need more than one shot. If I lived in Grizzly or mountain lion territory, I wouldn't walk around without a high-powered rifle capable of sending several bullets down-range in a hurry. How many bullets would I need? Lots, if grizzlies or mountain lions were in my area and I needed to be out in their neck of the woods every day. I don't know what we'll eventually settle on but, to me, half a dozen bullets should be enough for most situations. Again, in Alaska or other places where there is a very real danger of being killed and consumed by other animals, it makes sense to carry several high-powered guns.
LOL...! REALLY? I had to pick myself up off the floor after hearing this! So, now it's "grizzlies and mountain lions"? Hoo boy! http://www.partisanlines.com/thread...armed-man-is-a-subject.4649/page-5#post-87919
lol The thing about guns is their ease of use...literally, point and "click". It would be difficult to teach a kid to drive, especially if they can't even see over the steering wheel of the car or truck...but put a gun in their hands and see how long it takes 'em to figure out how that sucker works .
I watched the video. It seemed like he was referring to inner city violence and probably gang culture in the 3 or so minute clip I watched. I tend to agree with the message on that account. That is where the largest part of this country's real gun problem is. 'Brainwash' was a poor choice of words but educating those at real risk of gun violence that that lifestyle is not 'cool' is a good message. A lot of liberals seem to fear the 'Redneck With A Rifle' but the real, day in, day out, every single day gun problem killing kids and adults is in the large cities of this country where minorities and the poor are segregated into real ghettos while the more affluent hide in their gated communities.
Well put Stu and I am NOT for gun bans in large or crime ridden cities. The small city I live in has about 30,000 residents. We had no murders last year. Meanwhile, nearby Gary, IN which ,in it's heyday had about 180,000 people but has shrunk to around 90,000, had 43 murders. 36 of those involved guns. So far this year Gary has had one murder. By gunfire go figure. For those not familiar with Gary it's a "dead, steel town" basically. Lots of gang activity and they like to use guns.
