Then shame on him and shame on you. F*** the politics on this one for once guys. I just read that 18 children died.

Thank you CoinOKC and you are absolutely correct. There ARE a lot of crazy people out there.

    ******************************************************

    18 kids are dead!!!

From what I've read so far the oldest victims (other than teachers etc.) might have been 10 years old and that's just because the school had children from the ages of 5-10.

Some warped person or persons went into a school and killed 26 people as I understand it at this point.

26 people died. 18 were kids.

I don't care what the political leanings may have been.

Sick people are sick people. Period.

I am far past passively expressing outraged at this point. How many times do we simply get to just call these people "crazies" and leave it at that? How many times?

I never at any point made a political statement one way or the other about this shooting SO, I would appreciate Clembo not lumping me in these 2 apologists for every psychopath that uses a gun in this country. I merely asked when we were allowed to talk about the issue of guns in this country. If asking for a national conversation is political, so be it.

Someday you might be able to figure out that there are some thing you just cannot justify or turn political - and I am not going to argue the merits pro or con of you idiocy. I completely agree with Clembo.

YES, YOU DID! Right here in this thread:

    http://www.partisanlines.com/thread...-school-shooting-including-18-children.49922/

Stop turning these incidents into a way to politicize your liberal point-of-view. It's sickening. No one is discussing politics or gun ownership in regard to these incidents. Why do you have to bring up your political point-of-view about guns?

    Nice to see you Jack.

Same old sheet. Different day, bigger pile and more flies.

What's wrong with people? It depends on the person. I'm not being flippant here when I say that. It's my belief that all of us carry certain capabilities, certain nastiness, that civilized society tends to repress over time. Someone living in a city doesn't need to hunt or kill other living things anymore, but most are still capable of it if it was necessary, or if they are so inclined.

Head trauma can lead to this type of thing. Some people would never consider going on a massive shooting spree, but could get into a car accident or some other trauma, where their head sustains an injury, and it's a crap-shoot on whether or not the injury will cause a social-behavior problem sometime in the future. Look at any high-impact sport and you'll see evidence of brain injury causing that nastiness to surface, so to speak. Mental illness isn't fully understood, and can't be, but we have a pretty good understanding of it nonetheless.

We may appear to be civilized, and we are in the respect that we aren't all trying to kill each other on a daily basis, but some of us can revert to uncivilized behavior in an instant.

Ultimately, what's wrong with people isn't the question I ask myself anymore, because IMO, that's just how people are. I'd go further and say it's how all living things are. People just think about the repercussions more than a chimp does, or a virus.

Shortly, we'll have a better understanding of just what set this guy off, be it a family dispute, a mental illness, a belief, a combination of all that, whatever...what we do now is reflect on that, and work towards being more civil, because we are pretty damn good at it, when we choose to be, and when our illnesses are properly diagnosed and treated.

Inevitably, people will reflect on the usage of guns, and some will demand that guns, particularly handguns, be banned. Yes, certain restraints can be, and have been, imposed on gun ownership, but the Pandora's Box has been opened, and can't be "un-opened". Like it or not, guns will be around as long as people, or some other animal, knows how to make them. I'm keeping my eye on chimps, those little buggers are smarter than most people give them credit for.

Joe, we call them crazies because it relieves us of responsibility. If someone turns out to be insane then what can you do? When we blame it on alleged "crazies" all we're saying is that it's not us. It's nothing we've done or haven't done. We're not the ones to blame. We have no control. It's a the fault of a crazy person. There's nothing to discuss.
