Says the Dutch. I know I've said some things about the Dutch recently, what with the surge in recent weeks of (seemingly) Dutch people selling their vitameatavegamin woody makers and such, but I have no real ill-will towards the country, especially with their recent reversal of the ill-conceived anti-marijuana restrictions enacted in the southern areas that crushed local businesses. I'll add this to my respect-o-meter as well: Dutch approve move to scrap blasphemy law Dutch authorities have decided to approve a motion abandoning a law under which it is a crime to insult God. (11-28-12) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20530428 I'm aware of many countries with such laws, notably Thailand, who had some international attention when they prosecuted a guy who, while living in the U.S. many years earlier, insulted the queen, in the authorities eyes. Select quotes: Thank GOD! I mean, don't. Smart country. Too bad America is going the other direction. Not that I'd imagine such a law could pass, or be enforced easily, but I get the feeling a lot of people would want it to. Freedom of Religion be damned, they'd still want it law. Here, being disrespectful to a cop will likely result in a public disorder-type charge. It depends on the cop, of course, but they tend to abuse that power a lot. Then they'll understand this: Stop trying to make me buy your useless crap. I know, it's a very small percentage that are doing it though, but could you at least get them to sell hemp? You know, something that doesn't suck? Thanks. Ahhhhh, now we get to the heart of it. The Dutch were the first that I can recall who printed images of their (Muslim's) prophet, and I very very very much respect that. People forget that it's absolutely our right to ignore the demands from others that we respect their beliefs, especially when those demands are coupled with threats. Strike back, don't be cowards. The Dutch aren't. The French aren't. America is. Respect isn't deserved under the threat of violence. That said, I got nothing against violence lol...figure it out, or don't, I can't force you to understand it, and that's the point. @#$%^&* politics. Add religion into the mix and you have a whole lot of stupidity vying for attention. Don't give it to them. Don't be hatin'! This is just an opinion.
Does the anti-blasphemy crowd actually think God cares what we say about him? Being concerned with what people say about you is a human thing. No self respecting deity would give a rip. Blasphemy laws reflect the insecurity of the faithful and their need for control. They have nothing to do with God.
My deity shrugs and laughs a lot. Oh, he also likes to prank people...if I ask him nicely, of course. With that in mind, *trip*. *That one was for Speaker Boehner (pronounced "boner", he knows why!). My deity is laughing at that.
I was a deity once. It was a lousy job. Your deity sounds like he's dealing with the position pretty well.
Deitiness is a thankless job, but I think he's happy enough. Welcome back, btw. I know you're probably just checking to see what's been goin' on lately but, as you can see, you owe me another five bucks.
Thanks, IQ. Just taking a peek. Looks like we have some civil, intelligent and perspicuous new members. I should probably not stay long. Don't want to scare them off. As for the fiver, you know I'm good for it. What my tab right now anyway?
$10...and $82.50 in taxes...to make David rant. What new members? (see's De Orc approaching, changes conversation)... that's why blasphemy is sooooo ridiculous, and furthermore...(De Orc disappears around corner)...He like's us to keep on topic sometimes...anyway... Recusant's the newest member I can think of that fits your description, but I thought you were here when he joined.
I was, but I'm seeing new names. Hmmm... Might be a good idea to knock off early this afternoon. I'll get a check in the mail. Or the FedEx. The Daves of the world could very well have killed off the post office before I get to it. So how does it work if I mail a letter from, say, Korea, or some other place where the trappings of and services of civilization are still in place and it lands in the US and there is no US Postal Service to pick it up and carry it to its destination? I wonder about things like this.
Nah, just come back once in a while and mock the WRONG's puppet's posts and we're square. As for the new names, I posted a thread about it, but it didn't get a response from Pete. I'll try to use a technique Recusant showed me and direct you to it by having you click on the following: SHAZAM! If it worked, I owe him a bottle of bourbon, a sixth of a troy ounce of silver, and an autographed photo of pope John Paul II. He doesn't work cheap!
Paypal, no. As for pigeons, a pigeon took a dump on me in Seattle one time and this has prejudiced me against the lot. I know it's wrong to condemn a whole flock based on the execrable behavior of one, but there it is. Google might be an option.
Yes, pigeons must die...they know why! (shakes fist in air) Thankfully I had a hat on. Anyway, I guess TH (TheMistokles480) fits your description too. For some reason I had it in my head that he's been here longer than me. Sometimes I have no concept of linear time. Sorry 'bout that TH!
I want to be a banker some day, so I can "earn" tons of cash and complain about the government wasting my money on people who haven't "earned" it...like old people who are too lazy to work and veterans who still live.
