Sorry for the exclusion of the link, I thought it was included at the end of the story, thanks for posting it. BTW did you learn anything else while you was there, I certainly hope so. Can you find anything in Limbaugh’s story that is incorrect?
I find your analogy interesting, its funny how you libs always deal in hypotheticals, but since you brought it up and 50 (actually over a hundred, but hey who’s counting) “jumped ship”, I would say the first to perish would be the moochers and lazy asses and the self-reliant hard workers would of survived. Read Bradford’s words: The experience that was had in this common course and condition, tried sundry years and that amongst godly and sober men, may well evince the vanity of that conceit of Plato’s and other ancients applauded by some of later times; that the taking away of property and bringing in community into a commonwealth would make them happy and flourishing; as if they were wiser than God. For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For the young men, that were most able and fit for labour and service, did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense. Socialism may or may not have got its start with the pilgrims but it failed miserably then for the same reasons it fails today. Thank you for the ringing endorsement of socialism, Karl Marx would be proud.
Starvation? Maybe before defending “socialism” you should look up how many people have starved to death because of it, “The Chinese government now acknowledges that during just one three-year period, the so-called “Three Difficult Years” from 1959-62, between 20 and 30 million Chinese died of starvation.” “Two million Cambodians died of starvation in the late 1970s after socialist measures were applied to agriculture by the Khmer Rouge.” “In March 1975 the feudal period ended; “Ethiopian socialism” began. But instead of development, agricultural performance, poor to begin with, deteriorated rapidly. It is now well established that over one million Ethiopians have died of starvation in the most recent famine.” ..........not to mention the millions that starved under Lenin and Stalin. Before you get your panties in a wad Clem I did not pen those statements, but here is who did. It is soooooooo apropos that a ‘hypothetical’ ‘Clem’- socialist commune member’ comes up here to make a point and a damn good one at that So Clem….go read about Clem……. http://www.fee.org/the_freeman/detail/socialism-and-incentives#ixzz2DMk8enqC
For some reason I doubt that the group would be loaded with "moochers and lazy asses" as you put it. My opinion is that if they hadn't practiced some sort of "socialism" in the first place there's a chance they WOULDN'T have made it. That's called thinking outside the box. You should give it a try sometime. Or, of course, you can just blindly follow what folks like Rush Limbaugh say. I suppose it's easier for you. I also find it amusing that you use the tired out "you libs" line. It really does demonstrate to me how little some folks actually DO think. I suppose that's easier for some. A little refresher for you jth because you used the "typical liberal" line on me before the election when you'd gone missing for quite some time. Remember back when you first popped up here you said the same thing about me? I do. I also remember pointing out to you that I have voted Republican, Democrat and Independent. Hardly what I would consider a "typical liberal" and I have stated repeatedly that I will vote Republican again IF they can produce a candidate I consider worthy of my vote. Now if you insist on referring to me as a "typical liberal" that's fine by me. It kind of makes me feel sorry for you though. If the fact that I don't agree with you magically transforms me into a "typical liberal" it shows me a lack of real thought on your part. That is my opinion
I am soooo glad I decided not to try to shorten your ID when referring to you here the other day. If it had one more letter though...
