Secession isn't a real option so I find it sort of difficult to take these petitions with anything but skepticism anyway. It's sort of "Right-wing feel good rhetoric about something after an electoral drubbing" activity designed to take the attention away from those that brought the party to this unfortunate circumstance. The Right is famous for redirecting anger away from itself and learning nothing in the process. It's not like there is a lot of introspection that goes on over there and their sheep are all too happy to follow the lead and feed their anger. They are just angry people to begin with.
I say that they can succeed if they want but they have to pay off their portion of the federal debt first. That is $52,000 per person times 25.6 million people in Texas = $1.331 trillion dollars. In gold only, please. I don't trust that Foreign Texas currency.
Well, it is at least easy to get Texans cranked up... They don't really represent the entire nation education and erm... intelligence wise.
Think how much the national IQ would increase just by letting Texas leave. Aren't they the state that wanted to ban the teaching of critical thinking? Or is that just what they do on a daily basis anyway?
Literally... http://austinist.com/2012/06/27/texas_republican_party_seeks_ban_on.php http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/...hinking-Skills-in-schools-The-stupid-IT-BURNS http://www.dailytech.com/Fearful of... Critical Thinking Education/article25070.htm http://www.alternet.org/newsandview...ek_to_ban_critical_thinking_in_public_schools And of course, we all know about their creationist stickers in evolution textbooks... Idiots.
I forgot to mention that it's highly likely most of those people who signed that petition were probably from other states, and maybe even countries...and likely as a semi-joke.
Remember folks, this is bs. The only reason people are talking about it is because it's entertaining. It's not really news, per se...more like something to talk about. Secession petitions are NOT limited to Texas, or even states (as in Austin's petition). My state has at least one, so does your's most likely. To find out, go to whitehouse.gov and enter a search for "petitions". That should bring you to the "Petition" page where you can then search for whatever. Sheesh!
If each pays their share of the debt, uhm, that would be all 50 would have to secede to pay the entire national debt.
That looks so porno lol ...and to the guy in the pic...good for you, but if you don't want an infection, be gentle.
