In your opinion, if employees don't show up for work or if they refuse to do their job, should they be fired?

In your opinion, if someone who shows you no respect asks you a question, should you take them seriously and answer it?

This is an open forum. My question wasn't specifically directed toward you. If you feel inclined to answer, please do so.

You've been on this forum for two weeks, Ebenezer. If your skin is so thin that you're insulted by jibes and jeers then you should probably stick with the Yacht Club forum. BTW, did you ever find out if "your" employees were unionized? Well, regardless of that, I'll directly ask you the question I posed to the entire forum:

In your opinion, if employees don't show up for work or if they refuse to do their job, should they be fired?

So, why are you even answering me at all? Time to hit the IGNORE button it seems...

I have fired people for that so yes.

Of course one must always look at the circumstances. Sometimes it's legit and at other time there are extenuating circumstances in which case you DON'T fire that employee.

An employer that just fires because of policy is not a very good employer IMHO. That same employer can be a detriment to the company as well.
Training new employees is not cheap.

I agree with all you've said, Clembo.

However, if an employee agrees to a wage, salary or benefits package but then pickets your company, refuses to report for work, demands concessions you don't agree to before they will return to work, encourages other employees to follow his example, creates an environment non-conducive to the flow of business and discourages customers from doing business with you... would you fire him?
