With all that went on in the last election, I was just wondering what you think about what being multicultural means in the context of American politics? Define multicultural however you wish.

I keep hoping it will result in more political parties. We are a multicultural nation shoved into a black and white* 2 party system.

*As in one extreme or the other, not race.

The three party system might actually happen. I can think of at least one way it might. If the Republican Party were to split into the Right-wing and the ultra Right-wing, they might attract enough centrists into the Right-wing party and then form a coalitition with the ultra Right-wingers to overcome the Left's growing base of minority support. At least until the centrists that joined with the more middle of the road Right-wingers figure out that their support is only furthering ultra Right-wing causes. Who knows how long it would take them to figure that out?

At some point, a middle or center between the 2 parties is going to have to develop or things are just going to continue to get worse. If the American people don't figure out that we have to pay for the things we would like to have now or do without them, we are in deep trouble. And 95 billion a year from the rich is not gonna do it with a trillion dollar a year deficit.
