Meh, I don't mind discriminating against liberals. Liberalism, in a political context, is not a factor of heritage, a socio-economic factor or an issue of sexual orientation.

The "holier than thou" crap in regards to racism is getting old real fast.

This coming from an aging white guy.

I have black friends that call me white and I call them black. No big friggin' deal.

Should I insist that they call me a Caucasion and I will refer to them as Negroes?

Another Republican reacts to the election...

News keeps getting worse for Denise Helms, the 22-year-old California woman whose racist, threatening Facebook status about President Barack Obama went viral this week. Helms has since been fired from her job at a Turlock, Calif., Cold Stone Creamery, and the Secret Service is now looking into her comments.

“Another 4 years of this (N-word),” Helms wrote on her Facebook Tuesday night. “Maybe he will get assassinated this term.”

Sacramento's Fox 40 news crew caught up with an unapologetic Helms on Wednesday.

"I didn't think it would be that big of a deal," she said. "The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying like I would go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen, I don't think I'd care one bit."

She then took to Facebook to defend herself, according to The Modesto Bee.

So apparently my post last night about Obama got onto Twitter and Fox 40 came and interviewed me cause apparently a lot of people in Sacramento think I'm crazy and racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I'm not racist and I'm not crazy. just simply stating my opinion.!!!"
Her Facebook account has since been deactivated.

Helm's supervisor, Turlock Cold Stone Creamery store director Chris Kegle, told The Bee that he was shocked to read about his employee's comments, which he said do not line up with his company's values.

"We found her comments to be very disgusting," Kegle said. "We made the decision [to fire her] because of her comments, but also the community feedback. We are very into working with the community and doing community service. So when your community does not like you because of an employee, that's bad. We have a business to run."

Cold Stone's Twitter feed was besieged by angry tweets, and the company has worked hard to disassociate itself with Helms.

@poojababyy This employee is no longer w/the company. Her comments are outrageous, completely unacceptable & in no way reflect our views.

Following the Fox 40 reports, Agent Scott Gillingham from the Sacramento Secret Service office said he would be checking out her posts.

The Washington, D.C., bureau of the Secret Service told Fox 40 that all threats, or perceived threats, are taken seriously and investigated. If the Secret Service were to decide her threat was legitimate, Helms could face a felony under U.S. Code Section 871, which states prohibits willfully and knowingly threatening "to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm " on the president, vice president or other office next in succession to the presidency.

In September, a North Carolina man was arrested for threatening to kill President Barack Obama in a series of Twitter messages, according to The Smoking Gun. Donte Jamar Sims, 21, was charged in a felony criminal complaint in U.S. District Court.

Helms' troubling comments about Obama's race were echoed on election night across the Twitterverse, as many people used social media to spread similar messages. In an effort to curb the trend, Jezebel tracked down many of the teenage miscreants and contacted their schools. Almost all have since taken down their Twitter accounts.

There is no issue with the terms black and white. Hell! It pretty much defines Coin's thinking process.

He only spews this nonsense because he uses it to avoid the entire race issue by pretending that he is above it all while his state of denial gives away his real attitude. Sorry Coin, not that gullible.

Racism may, indeed, disappear one day but with people like you propping it up I doubt it will be anytime soon.

How about just calling them by their name and look beyond the whole "black/white" thing?

THEM? Would that be the black, colored, Negro people I call friends?

Well me and them do call one another by our given names. It's no problem.

We also realize that we are of different races.

I feel you do too Coin.
Seems to me you're just looking for reasons to argue these days.

    Damn shame.

As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to racial divides, there is no argument. Either you discern a person as a different race or you don't. If you do then, by definition, it's division by race. If you simply see them as another human being with different skin tone, it's not. I prefer to see individuals as belonging to the human race, not separate races. If you want to call people "black" and they want to call you "white", well, that's up to your group. When it comes down to it though, how can you see it as anything but divisive?

Nit pick it all you want Coin but what's next? Calling a woman a woman is gender descrimination?

Let's say you fill up at the gas station and then go in for a cup of coffee. You witness the cashier being robbed.

Being a witness you do the right thing and wait for the police to arrive.

"What can you tell us sir."

"Well, I'm pretty sure it was a human being and wearing clothes."

"Was this "human" black, white, hispanic, male or female?"

"Well, I'm pretty sure it was a human being and wearing clothes."

"Thank you for your time sir you've certainly wasted mine."

"Sorry officer I have an image to keep up and I certainly don't want to appear divisive."

While it is true that we are all humans, I believe recognizing and identifying a difference in skin color is no more divisive than recognizing and identifying a difference in hair color. He's black, he's white, she's blond, she's brunette, she's redhead. Treating people differently because of differences it is where the problem is.

Of course, I am just an ignorant redneck so take the above for what it's worth. ;)

I don't have a problem with acknowledging that some people have lighter skin tones than others and vice versa. The problem I have is when people make judgment calls as to a person's heritage or "race" based solely on their skin tone.

Using the colloquial term "minority" when describing a person's skin tone automatically places that person into a racial category based solely on appearance. For instance, please tell me how many "minorities" are in this photograph (remember, you're basing your opinion solely on appearance):

    View attachment 729

For the sake of argument, we'll use the terms "black" and "white" for this question. We can also use any other descriptive term you would like to use (yellow, red, brown, etc.). How many "blacks" do you see? How many "whites" do you see? How many "browns" do you see? How many (other colors) do you see?

Now, for each color you selected, can you tell me beyond a shadow of a doubt what their ethnic heritage is? I believe if you ask a large enough group of people these same questions, you will get a very different response in numbers. Judging a person's heritage based on skin tone is, in fact, "pre-judgment" or rather "prejudiced".

I don't think you're racist. You've never led me to believe you are from anything you've ever said on this forum. However, I would like you to just take a moment and think about your notions concerning "black" and "white". Try to look at it arbitrarily.

Well, the dimocRATS have controlled Congress for the last 6 years & the White House for the last 4 years....we still don't have a budget, the deficit is overwhelming & BO's only plan to fix his mess is a bumper sticker slogan of "tax the rich". Tax the rich? BO's own people freely admit the revenue raised from penalizing the successful will only fund his spending for a few short months. Then what? Will BO have to revise the definition of "rich" to generate more revenue? If so, how many times will he do it?
Here's an idea....how abot BO organize a fundraiser. He can include those mega-millionaire friends of his...the Hollwood-types, the musicians, the professional athletes, the business moguls...those people who supported his campaign should be asked to put their money where their mouths are & pony up huge chunks of their wealth. Once they do that we reasses what's needed from the rest of us.
