For those who think the U.S. is stretched too thin

I have been in the military and trained with the best and when I hear the far left liberal media tell us Americans that we can't fight another war it really ****es me off. Who in their right mind thinks we aren't capable of fighting more than one or two wars at the same time? The U.S. hasn't used but about 20% of our military capability, maybe less. That is just another lie the main stream media want the ignorant public to believe so as to scare them into thinking we can't go to war with Iran right now. We don't need a huge military because we fight a more intelligent war than these Fascists do. The Fascists don't care about dying because they see no future for themselves unless you are priveliged enough to be in the upper elite of their society. Saddam Hussein is a good example, he was a coward hiding in a hole living the high-life off the backs of his own people.. Oh, and with the help of Russia, Germany and France. Americans want to live and become whoever they were born to be. Just wait until Iran does something really stupid within the next year or so, and you will see that the U.S. can handle more than one (Iraq), two (Afghanistan), three (Iran), or four (N.Korea). I left out a few wars that will need to be taken care of, but you get the picture. I say we need a countdown to when the U.S. has had enough and unleashes the B-52's or whatever newer technology we have since I got out.

Like I used to say in the Marines, We don't die for our country, we let them die for their country!

This just in, Israel kills 50+ Lebanese (WHO GOT A PERSONAL PHONE CALL FROM ISRAEL TO LEAVE THE AREA BEFORE THE BOMBING) civilians and Israel has video of missiles firing from the back of the bldg, and the civilians deny that there were rockets being fired from that position! How do you negotiate with these people who are hell bent on OUR destruction? YOU DON"T!!!! YOU BOMB THEM INTO REALITY!!!!

 

Sounds like plot for new bad Hollywood movie. Mel Gibson will be cast as Rambo and fight whole bleeping world. Halle Barry will be sidekick, for your USA political correctness. Together they destroy or level Syria, Iran, DPRK, Russia, China, Libya and France.

I wanted to respond to the original post in this thread, but came up speechless. Your observation is as good as any. I think that probably as a result of the easy victories in Panama, the two Iraq wars, and the bloodless [our blood anyway] "victory" in Bosnia and Kosovo, war has become very popular in the US, with some people anyway. Memories of Korea and Viet Nam are fading. A lot of Americans don't understand why "democracy" can't be implemented in a top-down fashion in many other nations, even though it evolved in a bottoms-up manner in our own country. I recall a TV interview with a woman shortly after victory in Afghanistan. A reporter asked her if she was looking forward to democracy. She answered [paraphrasing], " Oh yes! As soon as we get democracy, we can vote for the execution of our enemies because we are the majority now." The reported tried to tell her that this isn't what democracy is all about, but she quickly answered, "Yes it is!" And that ended that interview. She doesn't get it, and we don't get why she doesn't get it.

The military quote above is paraphrased from the movie "Patton." But people also forget that Patton also said, "Never fight a battle if you don't gain anything by winning." There isn't much for the US to "win" in the Middle East except the oil, which can be purchased easier and less expensively than it can be captured. Ronald Reagan was smart enough to know when to exit a bad situation. Our current political leadership doesn't seem to have the intellectual capability to figure this out - or they have an agenda that is largely hidden from the public.

USA may have gone into Iraq with good intentions, but remember it is rough neighbourhood, and you think theocracies like Iran and Saudi Arabia want "democratic" country next door to them?

It was stupid, but somehow Boris Yeltsin thought he would change Russian Federation in 500 days, but now some 15 yrs later Russia has changed, but democracy takes back seat to press censorship, and his hand picked successor, Vladimir Putin has asserted old time control of government. It will take generations I think for democracy to truly come to Russia, it will happen, because people are at least free now to travel if they can afford too, unilike in times previous. But Russia not communist, but autocratic.

But I wonder that USA is losing democracy while "building" it overseas, press censorship, losses of freedoms, govt spies on citizens and old time control of government and press seems similar - to Russia!

What you also fail to mention is the fact that most if not all of these Terrorist Regimes (Axis of Evil) have a very strong hold through FEAR. It would take a great amount of intestinal fortitude to stand up to the ruling authorities for fear of torture or death.

You say, "war is popular in the U.S."? You can't be serious! And you still think this war is about OIL and not about what it is really about, which is STABILITY in that region and most of all our continued FREEDOM!

Hidden agendas? The main agenda is to confront TERROR where he sees it so that you are protected and safe. That is what is so great about America, no matter what you and I believe, our military will still be there protecting us. 1. Losing Democracy while "building" it overseas. Since I am not a terrorist I have no idea what Democratic freedoms I have lost. So, are you saying Democracies are a bad thing? Danr? In all honesty, I believe you have a reading comprehension problem. You also do a lot of presuming, when your time could be better spent reading and trying to understand what others have written instead of putting words in their mouths. Part of the problem is that you still think in terms of liberal/conservative, and define every issue in those terms [to a man with a hammer, every problem looks like a nail]. Well, that whole issue was debated and resolved back in the 20th century. If you want to participate in
21st century political discussions, you really need to get up to speed instead of constantly condemning what you obviously do not comprehend. The issues now involve questions of nationalism vs globalism, preemption vs defense, non-interventionism vs hegemony, security vs privacy, NGOs, the role of international banking in setting foreign policy, the role of currency in defining national identity, the impact of peak oil on middle eastern politics, the rise of China and resurrection of Russia, the use of central bank reserves in economic warfare, etc... If the issues are too tough for you to understand, you would be better served to ask for clarification and information than to continue to embarrass yourself with the "you libs" stuff. That was a state of the art political slur 10 years ago, but is meaningless now.

Krasnaya brings a well thought out but different viewpoint to the discussion. Take advantage of it. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you have enough IQ points to do this if you try, but for the life of me I can't understand why you always curse and use the word "stupid" to describe points of view you haven't even read carefully.

I have been saying the same thing in thread after thread. He doesn't seem to comprehend what he reads or just doesn't bother reading, I can't tell. Anyway, it is all mumbo jumbo to him if he can't comprehend the words he is reading. It could be the fact that he is unable to take in any other perspectives other than his own and therefore is incapable of absorbing any new information.
On the original topic, even the highest military leaders we have say that our military is stretched too thinly because of our involvement in Iraq. I tend to believe them over someone with a reading comprehension problem but that's just me.
I do applaud him for throwing a topic out there. Usually he just throws bombs at other posters for their threads. Maybe our baby is finally growing up.

 

And many more Generals who say we can fight many wars at the same time with our technology and soldiers. But for someone who hates the US and the Military I can see where you would believe the doubters.
