Double standards

Nebraska. Neither rural or in a city. I guess the whole, "I don't trust cops" thing must be a perspective thing. I honestly don't see much of the, "profiling stuff", here.

I am well aware that there are notoriously tainted police forces like the highly publicized incidences, like New York, L.A., and New Orleans, but I honestly believed that outside of these isolated incidences, most cops are lawful.

I know that any department can have a few cops that can push the envelope or do questionable things, but I believe that 98% are good.

It's too bad you have had dealings with some on the fringe.

 

Agreed. Most police are very well meaning and good people. I would also say that most of them speed when off duty. Hence my posting this in the double standard thread.

I have had far more pleasant dealings with police, than I have had negative dealings.

Its just, the negative stuff is far more interesting.

 

It's just like they say when dealing with anyone. Someone can do thousands of positives, but it's the negatives that stick with us.

 

A conseravative writes dirty emails to 17 year old page in whitehouse with the desire to have a sexual encounter with same 17 year old, the world is comming to an end, the man is removed from office, and he will never hold public office again.(As it should be, I agree this is a good thing)



A liberal asks a 17 year old page for sex, 17 year old agrees and what follows is a long sexual affair with the young boy to include vactions out of the Country together. The politician gets a standing ovation from his fellow liberals in congress and is given over 8 million dollars from his party to assist him to get elected again for 6 more terms in office "after" they knew he liked having sex with young boys.

I have to say your right about the cops speeding thing for most cops. Your also right about setting the exmple, cops being the front line of what is considered right and wrong according to our laws.

I will even admit I would sometimes speed when I first started working the street but after a few years this same point was made to me by an old veteran cop friend of mine. It took a minute for what he said to sink in, but I worked much harder in setting the example after that.

 

As far as double standards go, I believe this invokes the word "Epitome"

Come on, you have to admit that it's funny. Especially since it's topic on double standards that you started.

 

Being as one statement is about debating and the other is about harassment by a childish mind chasing me around every thread, calling me names and making a total pain out of himself, inserting himself between me and others, no I do not see a double standard.


But I do see you still trying everything you can to take jabs at me, are you now going to take Wez's place as my main antoginist?

Obviously it is a sore subject, maybe other subjects or time seperating this one would be easier to see humor.

But, it is still not a double standard to try and deal with an excessive personality like Wez, as with all rules there are exceptions, and he is the exception as far as I am concerned.

 

That was a complete double standard. It was crappy how the party completely turned their backs on him.

What hurt Foley most was that he ran on a campaign of an ultra-conservative that fought against the sexual exploitation of children.

I guess maybe we sometimes denounce in others what we hate most in ourselves.

If a white person declares his pride in his race or heritage, they are labeled as a racist.

If a person of color (black, Hispanic, asian, middle eastern, jewish, etc...) does the same, they are a champion of their people.

I wasn't even really talking about a white pride group or even saying the, words, "White Pride". I was saying that if I were to say that I am proud to be a white person of European decent, I would be viewed as being racist by many.

If I said that I was proud to be a black person of African decent (or enter other race and origin here), very few if any would view me as racist.

 

Give it a couple hundred years. We should be even by then.

 

Oh I know what you were saying, and you're right. As of now, Whites are the minority in 10 US states, and growing fast. As Snafu eluded too, given enough time, whites may once again be able to express pride in their race.

Personally, I have no white pride. I simply don't give a sh*t what color hew that my skin pigmentation is. I don't know why anyone does.

To call ones self an African-American is an insult to Americans. What comes first is most important, and African American suggests that the African part is most important. Unless "you" came here from Africa, "you" are not African-American. And out of respect to "your" new nation that you are a legal resident of, "you" should call yourself an American-African.

 

I personally side with Tedd Roosevelt on this issue. You've probably seen this before but I'll post it anyway.
