.... because I know some stuff.

    We have a POPE!

a FIRST IN THE history of the Papacy: An American Cardinal, born in Chicago, and of late, the Bishop Emeritus of Peru.

Conversant in Spanish, Italian, and English. (and Latin, of course).

Villanova Chicago Grad. I can live with that.

It gives Hope again, to a fractured divisive Chair of Peter.

    Leo XIV. Wonderful choice.

Oh, and I didn't see that one coming, the same as everyone else in the World.

The World can still be a place of Surprise and Delight!

I had to post that twice, because it is personally hard to admit my surprise.

Yep! Villanova’s students tend to skew Conservative to Moderate. So, let’s give Leo a chance to see how he leans. The news is saying that he aligns with a few of Francis’s progressive ideals, but generally leans more pragmatic and conservative.

Yes, he does, in relation to agreeing to appoint 3 women to the Cardinal selection advisory team, and the expansion of the Church in Africa. He did not go as far as Francis, in the Women Priest category or the "privileges" that Francis wanted to extend to the Gay community.

I should have mentioned that, after 15 years as a Missionary in Peru, he loved Peru and became a Dual Citizen. I can accept that. There are only a few Catholic Cardinals that know the People of the Americas as intimately as Leo XIV, and it is, God knows, a needed element in the U.S. to build a bridge for this contentious issue, and certainly none that were humble enough on a level to be a Missionary in a location where it was needed.

Yes, he did admonish VPOTUS concerning love and acceptance without a Litmus Test, but the VPOTUS Parish Priest would have (and did) done the same.

Truth in editing: gave God the Caps HE deserves. ( AND, I said 3 Hail Marys and 2 Lords Prayer as an Act of Contrition for my faux pas. So there....
