I been in business sine the early 2000's. And as is customary this time of year, vendors tend to send in a few goodies that take their assigned positions around the coffee pot for all to consume. This year.... Dear Lord... This year we have so many cakes, boxes of chocolates... Even a chocolate tower!! So much that we had to move all these delectable goodies to the conference room table. I will have to put me and my staff on a crash weight loss program January 1st...... Never have I seen this kind of generosity sent our way and I offer it as proof of our current economic status. Vendors don't spend when they aren't confident money is coming in. Debate that.

Stacks' a major auction auction house sent a very interesting book about the history of the nickel by Q. David Bowers, the great numismatic author.

Oh lucky for us numismatists, @JoeNation is missing out.

I'm no business wonk but how are vendors sending you sweets proof of any kind of economic status? It sounds more like they are desperate for business and are spending on trinkets as a way to drum up business. Not sure what the connection is here. Sounds tenuous.

Not every indicator is strictly empirical numbers and charts published by the Federal reserve or some economic policy think tank. Having some of the highest black Friday and Christmas shopping sales recently is another neat example of a good economy. Its an example of everyday and small-time economic uptrend.

    Poor, sad Democrats.

Any good news for the American people that doesn't work toward the impeachment of Trump or promote the Democrat Party is bad news for them. They have forgotten, if they ever knew it, that the success of the country is more important that the political prospects for a specific political party. They have even forgotten that winning elections is more important than politically motivated impeachments, which have no chance of succeeding.

The most radical of them are victims of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Their minds are so preoccupied with Trump that they can’t think straight. Their condition is totally Orwellian. Facts don’t matter. Only pushing for the expansion of the power of The State matters. Only political dogma, which promotes expanding State Control, is important.

In the old days, the liberal Democrats would be looking at the good economy and proposing ways to take advantage of it, like fixing up the American infrastructure. But, no. All they have time for is impeachment.

Ahh … But I have spoken for you again, haven’t I, Joe? But since you have branded me a liar, it shouldn’t matter.

No one has said that the economy is bad. It is chugging along at approximately the same pace it has been at for the last 10 or so years. No better, no worse. Not sure why people feel the need to emphasize the economy now.

I guess your problem is that you can't write a post as good as one CoinBlazer did because you are too occupied with Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I pay someone a genuine complement for a factual, well articulated post, and you come back with a semi-obscene insult. Typical. No class, no taste.

    Well... With the Holidays upon us, I am trying to have a bit of a lighter outlook on things. Yes, the post was meant to lean just a bit toward the lighter side of things. However the point does remain. @CoinBlazer is exactly correct;
    • When gas is affordable, people buy larger cars.
    • When people feel confident in their employment, they spend more money on Holiday frills.
    • And when vendors have a fat bottom line, it is far easier to send out an abundance of Holiday gifts that they can write off.
So forgive my less than serious posting please.

No problem. I was just wondering what the cause and effect was here as I am always wondering.

I can why. Generally what we post here are hard truths and strong principles. So it's important for us to distinguish between that and the less serious of posts here.

Not sure about that. I see plenty of opinion presented as hard truth and strong principles but basically just opinions in the end.
