Being German, we celebrate Christmas, with the Birth of Christ Child (Kriskind) Germans go to late Mass on the 24th, then celebrate into the wee morning hours. The Medieval City of Nürnberg holds the most famous Kriskind Market. I hope to get a Medieval gold coin! I have 5 from Nürnberg already. One of my favs is this coin I added... France/ Capetian Kings AV Agnel d'or ND Paris Mint Philippe IV "Le Bel" 1292-1307 This guy known as the "the Fair" borrowed a whack of $$$$ to finance his wars. By 1305, he had borrowed vast sums from the Templars, as had the Pope Clemente VII residing in Avignon. Both then had a plot to destroy the Templars, their debts and seize the Remplars vast gold/ silver assets. Thus the King and Pope accused them (Templars) of heresy, Clemente excommunicated the Order, Philippe then had them all arrested, tortured in 1307. The Grandmaster Phulippe de Molay was slowly roasted on a spit to confess and reveal where Orders loot was hidden. He, never revealed that to his tormenters. He did curse the French King and warned he would die same year. Well the curse came true. And now legend has it, might be buried on Oak Island, here in Canada.
