n additional 1.5 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week and more than 20 million people across the U.S. are going hungry, but Senate Republicans are preparing to leave Washington, D.C. for the campaign trail as early as Thursday without approving any legislation to ameliorate nationwide suffering brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and congressional inaction.

On Wednesday, Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.) said senators could skip town for an extended recess ahead of the November 3 election if the upper chamber approves a House-passed continuing resolution Thursday to keep the government funded through mid-December, averting a looming shutdown.

Following the House's passage of the resolution earlier this week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)—who from the start rejected calls to use the government funding negotiations as leverage to force through additional Covid-19 aid—expressed "hope" that Congress could still "reach a bipartisan agreement on coronavirus relief."

"It's disgraceful that Trump and his Senate allies have found time to fast-track their SCOTUS plans while Americans are continuing to suffer without a new relief package."
    —Kyle Herrig, Accountable.US

But the prospects of the GOP agreeing to a deal before the November election appear vanishingly slim at present, given the refusal of many Senate Republicans to approve much-needed spending on state and local aid, an expansion of nutrition assistance, robust housing relief, and a $600-per-week unemployment supplement.

"For 27 weeks in a row new jobless claims far surpassed the worst of the Great Recession. We have a major economic emergency—Donald Trump and Senate Republicans must stop blocking relief," Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) tweeted Thursday morning. "Worse disaster looms for many, including those on Pandemic Unemployment Assistance or state Extended Benefits: without a new economic relief deal, they'll be entirely cut off from aid. They will get nothing."

While stonewalling on coronavirus aid, Senate Republicans have been perfectly willing to move ahead with business entirely unrelated to the pandemic, from confirming a raft of right-wing federal judges to forming a plan to force through Trump's yet-to-be-named Supreme Court pick ahead of Election Day.

"Trump and his allies in Congress are rushing to ram through Justice Ginsburg's replacement, but where was this urgency when Americans pleaded with lawmakers and the Trump administration to help support their families and keep their businesses afloat?" Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US, said in a statement.

"Small businesses are at risk. People are struggling to keep their families housed and fed," Herrig continued. "It's disgraceful that Trump and his Senate allies have found time to fast-track their SCOTUS plans while Americans are continuing to suffer without a new relief package."

What about Nancy Pelosi? She has tied relief for a couple months, but I know. She’s a “good Democrat” who is has decided to flush the people down the toilet to increase the power of the Democrat Party.

Okay, I've tried laying out the timeline to show how this is objectively untrue. Now it's your turn.

Please layout the timeline of events starting from when this relief bill was first drafted (HEALS act) back in May. Use your timeline to demonstrate how Nancy Pelosi has tied up the issuance of a second relief bill.

    Bull shit!

I avoid using that language, you really piss me off with your totally naive political blindness. Nancy Pelosi almost derailed and threw a monkey wrench into the first Covet stimulus package. The deal was set with Schumer onboard, and she wrecked it with a plethora of liberal pork barrel spending. The legislation got passed in spite of her. She is determined to spend money we don’t have and make the fiscal and monetary problems far worse. Now she has tied up further legislation which many Americans desperately need.

Nancy Pelosi hates the American middle class because she views it as an impediment to her radical agenda. She is evil as hell and as attractive as a cock roach. She is far worse than useless.

If you want to have further discussions, don’t you dare come back here with demands to counter your illusions about that whore. You can believe what you want about her. I’m not going to waste my time on countering your illusions about her.

Doing some more glue sniffing I see.

Is model airplane glue part of the vegan diet?

Got it, so your argument against her is based in ad hominem instead of events and actions.

Is it any wonder I enjoy being blocked by him so dang much? He has nothing but Fox News views that have less substance than he does, if that is even possible. Well, certainly a race to the bottom of ignorance anyway.

You can take your "ad hominem" comment and stick it up your ass.

I know that the events have been on the second Corona package. The Republicans are ready to spend another trillion to aid those who are being hurt by the Corona virus. Pelosi wants to spend over $3 tillion with lots of pork for state and local Democrat controled governments. That has been the sticking point.

The Democrats want the economy to be as bad as possible before the election because they think that help them get Biden elected. When the election is over and if Biden wins, things will suddenly get better in places like California when the Democrats rule and have shut everything down.

Disney asked for some relief yesterday. They are your allies, and they have reached the end of their rope with Democrat policies.

Who are you any way? I thought that you are young and have job. If so, where do you find the time to post in the middle of the day.

    I'm retired that's why I can post.

Here's an updated version of the timeline I posted before:

May 2020 -> House passes 3 trillion dollar relief bill, Senate needs to counter it or pass it

Late July 2020 -> Senate finally passes 1 trillion dollar relief bill full of billions in military funding and having very little in common with house bill, also missing their deadline.

Late July 2020 -> house scrambles and gets a compromise bill out down to ~2 trillion and starts negotiation with white house/Senate.

White house + Senate: No Deal

August 2020, McConnell: aww heck, it's August now, I'm out, no bill until we get back in September! Remember to blame your local Democrat!

September 2020: Senate counters with 500 billion dollar relief bill. Blocked by Dems on September 10th.

September 2020: Democrats expected to release new smaller version the week of 9/28-10/2.

    So, let's total that up.

Time the bill was held up by the house (Democrat controlled): roughly 1 month

Time the bill was held up by the Senate (Republican controlled): roughly 4 months

Who doesn't want to help the American people again?

You can write all of the Democrat fiction that you want. I really don't care because all you want is your socialist revolution.

I mean, it was a timeline of events. I don't know how to look at it any more objectively. Sure I added in some personal flavor, but the events themselves and who's hands the bill was in are accurate.

I think he is blowing a gasket. His Depends shipment was probably late this week and his britches are getting awfully saggy and yellow at this point and he is a bit cranky-pated.

What the hell does that sentence even mean?

    Take this sentence...

Wouldn't 3 trillion help the economy more than 1 trillion? So apparently, the Democrats want to make the economy as bad as possible while at the same time trying to stimulate the economy with 3 trillion not 1 trillion? Okay, am I missing the logic between the previous assertion and this assertion?

This is saying...WHAT? Local news story I guess. Oh, Billy the shit that you come up with in your bad addled brain.

You're retired on your wife's pension. Does she allow you to post all day? She should really wise up and dump your old wrinkled ass.

Bull shit. You need to depend on sources other than the DNC. Even the lame stream news media supports your position.

My "sources" are literally dockets from congress. I mean, it's well documented when exactly proposals were passed between the Senate and the House. This is why I asked you to make a timeline. If mine is incorrect, how do you propose it went down?

From Nancy Pelosi’s Democrats! That’s not a credible source. You believe in Adam Schiff. That shows how warped your brain is.
