This is mostly aimed towards our resident liberal @JoeNation
If you had the opportunity to meet face to face with the President Trump. How would you react, shake his hand and greet him with a smile, or repulse in disgust and call him a racist? "Nice to meet you, or I hope you get impeached mother****er?
Do Democrats even have the decency to respect the man, or would they not even have the time of day? How would most non-partisan Americans react?

The reason why I ask is that I got to see President Obama from a distance when he came to Joplin Missouri after the May 22nd 2011 tornado. If I got to meet him, I know I would disagree with what he stands for but I could still appreciate meeting one of the 44 most influential men in history.

In the May of 2016, my dad was returning from vacation and met Corey Booker at Cleveland Airport, at the time, Mr. Booker was campaigning and meeting people at the airport, whipping up votes for Hillary Clinton. My dad approached him and this is a paraphrase and summary of the conversation

Booker, Hey How you doing, are you a democrat, are you wanting to know more about Hillary Clinton?
Dad- No thanks, I'm a republican, but I've heard about your previous experience as a police officer, you ran into a burning building and you are credited for saving multiple peoples lives. Even though you are different side then me, I still highly respect you for that act of bravery. (shakes hand)

You see? THATS what I want to see more of!
Bring some positive light, or the divide will destroy us...

Amen to that, Coinblazer. I was an enlisted man while in the Army and had a protracted series of disagreements with a commanding officer that was really working on me and growing to a head. I was on the verge of saying/doing something that would have had a very negative impact on my Army career when one of my peers pulled me aside and said to me... "Sergeant, the colonel is the colonel whether you like him or not" .... That made a lot of good country sense to this fellow and that has remained one of my moral foundations since. Whether you like the man or not, every decent American should respect the office.

The decency to respect the man. That is the line that I take away from your musings. The decency to respect the man. Not the office, but the man. Let me put it this way; What does Donald Trump respect? Please post if you can a list of everything Trump respects. I have to imagine that the list will be very short, but it will be helpful to put the idea of respect into perspective.

I have no idea what I'd say to him one-on-one or if I'd say anything. Could he even hear anything other the praise of his own ego? I doubt it. Would it matter if I spoke truth to power? Doubtful. Sometimes the best thing to do is just shake your head and walk away. Maybe that is the only response that Trump merits.

I think that human beings have a natural aversion to the grotesque and of the perversion of character and morality. Maybe that is why the concept of sin offend us so easily. Sin is an act that goes against the decency of the human spirit of the nature of the social fabric. It offends us to our core and we react accordingly. I would imagine that finding the ability to respect what we naturally revile is a struggle for most of us. Some find it an easier collaboration, a convenient rationalization, or just a kinship with the sinner I suppose.

I guess that you have to ask yourself how do you show decency to the indecent and still maintain your own decency? What part of your soul are you willing to cleave off to prostrate yourself to an ideal. Or is the better path to hold onto your own moral character instead of bowing to someone else's moral inadequacies.

Here is list of people and institutions that President Trump respects:
    • The military
    • The state and local police
    • Small business owners
    • Citizens who work hard, play by the rules and are not looking for unwarranted government transfer payments.
    • Legal immigrants
    • Border patrol agents
    • The State of Israel and its right to exist as a nation
    • Voters who have supported him. Unlike many politicians, who make promises and then conveniently forget them after they take office, Trump has kept his word on many of the issues, including the pullout of troops in the Middle East which currently has him in hot water.
    • Public servants, who do their job and don’t get involved in politics like Comey and company have done.
Respect is two way street, Joe, and you and your buddies have never shown him any respect. You were mad hell the day after the election, and you have been mad hell since then. You have never given him a chance. You are irrational on this issue. All you do is hate. It’s all you have to keep you going.

Yes, but specifics make it easier. I have written many hobby related articles, radio spots and essays over the years. I have stayed away from political opinions in those pieces, but if you are looking for pro-socialist opinions, I can’t help you.
