Anyone following this election? I assume @John Kamps is following closely ;)

It's coming up on April 28. It appeared to be a lock for the conservatives, but it's much closer now.

I am a Polievre supporter. I am a true blue Conservative, hence I like Classical Art/ Architecture/ gold coins! I believe in Conservative values.
Our Conservative Party is fully with NATO (even though Liberals never spent enough on defense) They forgot that Russia is sitting on top of Canada. But, I give Trudeau Liberals one thing they did right, they give a lot of support to Zelenskyy. Polievre promised to hit NATO spending targets by 2026. He also knows that China and Russia are our greatest threat. There will likely be a full on War with Russia in next 5 years. Only way to stop that from happening is, keep the war from spreading too Baltics/ Poland. That means no cease fire, keep nailing Russian energy/ military and industrial targets, shipping. Tighten sanctions, cripple their banking system, destroy the rouble, cause hyper inflation, then hope for mass unrest, regime falls.

Do you buy into the polling showing the large swing towards the liberal party in recent weeks?

Polling isn't perfect of course, but it's not meaningless either. If you do believe it, what do you attribute the swing to?

Right now, the polls here are all over the map. Some have Cons ahead by 10 points, most are neck and neck, the longer Mr. Carney is exposed to the media scrutiny, the more voters will go back to Polievre. The French debate will kill Carney in Quebec, the Bloc will seize that opportunity. The English debate will also be a disaster for Carney, Polievre is much more polished. Carney's Chinese "investments/ loans" are coming out now. Plus he destroyed UK economy when Head of Bank of England. The "tariffs" from your President will damage auto section, which will angers voters towards US and current PM. Most Canadians (I am German) presently hate Putin (Russia) Xi (China) and that nutbar from N. Korea. Also more protest Israeli policy vs Gaza then vice versa. Next four weeks will be entertaining:)

At least Polievre isn't a plagiarist, not that being a plagiarist seems to have bothered liberals in the past (see: Joe Biden).

Nope! Polievre is a straight shooter, no nonsense guy. The last 9+ years under Communist (Trudeau) tyranny has bankrupted the Country, and Mark Carney was his adviser. Polievre referred to Trudeau as a "WACKO", he was right on the money. Carney-Trudeau-Freeland also froze bank accounts during "Truckers Freedom protest" something you would think only happens in Russia, China....

Looks like the polls maybe way off, remember US Harris/Trump polls:rolleyes:

Trump like Polievre had huge crowds at his rallies, same here in Canada. Carney gets at most 100 people, Polievre packs the house with lineups for blocks. Last nite in Kingston he had 10K/ Carney had less then 100/ Singh 20.
Now the three most recent polls have Cons ahead from 20 points to 1 point.
Then came the deathblow, Carney wanted Trump to deal Canadian imports with 25% tariffs, then found Trump did the opposite, zero.
This will make election again about 9+ years of Trudeau/ Carney bad policies.
Libs give druggies more poison/ Cons help get these addicts into detox
Libs want to be soft on crime, cons, commit the crime, do the time.
Libs keep resources in the ground/ Cons mine/ drill use them for economic growth
Libs let everybody/ even illegals into Country/ Cons, allow controlled immigration, only let hard working people into Country, no criminals, freeloaders.
Libs want closer economic ties to China/ India Cons want to expand trade with EU/ UK/ Australia/ S. Korea/ US
Credit where its due, both Libs and Cons want Russia blacklisted as long as the Putin Mafia are in charge.
Cons want to increase defence spending to NATO goals by 2026/ Libs promises are always empty.
Cons kill all Green taxes and impediments, including corp. carbon tax/ Libs do not ask, Carney loves Greta Thunberg.
Cons also promise no more "woke" agenda.

Do you think Trump made the cons lose on purpose? I can't imagine why he'd do that, but man, he sank them so hard.

Yes. Because the new individual that will now be invited to form a Government in Canada is a polished no nonsense savvy Business Person that speaks the Language of Trump Deals.

    Carney not close.

My advice to you, on a personal level concerning your future endeavors in life, is do not in any manner or employment pursue Politics. You simply don't have the long range 9or more to the present issue short range) vision and grasp of Wampum.

Carney thankfully was kept to a "minority govt.". So, if he does not behave, he can be voted "non-confidence" and we have a new election.:)

True, but my understanding is that he'll be forming a coalition govt with the further left groups, so "behave" in this case is working with Green and NDP interests. Is that really better in your opinion?

I mean, I'm happy for it, but that's just as an outsider.

I think Carney may even work with Conservatives. His plan to make "Canada an energy superpower" does not work well with the leftist NDP (7 seats)/ Green (1 seat)or separatists Bloc (22 seats)
Cons support "Energy East" pipeline/ selling LNG to EU/ UK/ China and biulding refineries here.
Carney is more of a Conservative then Liberal. Trudeau was left of NDP/ resulting in the mess Canada is in now. Only thing good Trudeau did was support for Ukraine/ Zelenskyy.
The end goal is to crash the oil/ gas prices so Putin goes bankrupt.
