This is what the catering to extremists by the GOP gets them. The GOP created this mob and they have to swallow the bitter pill and denounce them completely and totally once and for all. No mealy-mouthed half-hearted spare their feelings BS, just one continuous denunciation of these criminals and terrorists. Until they actually do that, I don't want to hear anything from them.

'There will be folks who try to kill us,' says Republican congressman on going against Trump
    Source: CNBC

Republican Congressman Peter Meijer from Michigan was one of only nine freshmen GOP lawmakers who voted to uphold the Nov. 3 election results. He told CNBC’s “The News with Shepard Smith” that his life could now be at risk because of it.

“We realize that was a vote we cast that put our safety at risk and going forward, I am expecting there will likely be more political violence,” said Meijer. “So my expectation and the expectation of some folks I’m talking to who are trying to vote our conscience on this, there will be folks that try to kill us, and that’s something we have to grapple with every day.”

Meijer added that, in turn, that threat of violence has compelled and will continue to intimidate some of his Republican colleagues into voting on the side of the Trump administration. In an op-ed, Meijer wrote that a fellow lawmaker only objected to President-elect Joe Biden’s win because they were afraid that President Trump’s supporters would come after his or her family.

“That was what weighed on the colleague in mind’s conscience, and the last thing that that individual said to me, concern about the safety of that individual’s family, if that individual voted to certify the election,” Meijer said. “That is where the rhetoric has brought us. That is the degree of fear that’s been created.”

    ... snip ...

“Instead of telling the people of America and their supporters what they need to hear, we have had too many politicians telling them what they want to hear,” Meijer said. “That type of reactive leadership is not going to make the Republican party ever be a party that is trusted to govern in this country again, and we need to fix it.”

And this is a person who votes to send our children to Afghanistan and Syria. I think this sniveling coward doesn't deserve to be in office.

There is a general lack of courage on the Right. They have been petrified of Trump tweeting something negative about them for the last four plus years because their constituency would evaporate or they would get primaried the next election cycle. Some chose to leave politics completely. The ones that stayed that were scared of losing their seats now have to contend with they or their families being killed by these same people and they know it. There is no equivalent to that situation on the Left. We don't threaten our representatives nor do we try to intimidate them anywhere near what the Right experiences. You have to ask yourself why you would let your supporters do this to you and why these seats in congress are so precious that they are willing to crawl on their bellies like worms to preserve them. They are kowtowing to the the lowest elements in society. They pretty much deserve the consequences of what they have wrought on the rest of us.

How does a political party get this lost?

I still think they are cowards and I'm not distinguishing sides. What I'm seeing is much like any University Chancellor's office on May Day. I also see Capitol Police opening doors and sanding by while MAGAs walk between the stanchion like it's visiting day. Something more is going on here, but of course, we will never get to the bottom of this while there is political accusations to be made.

I'm not sure what you mean by a University Chancellor's Office on May Day. Do you know what a Chancellor is?

Here's a refreshing view. If you can't have unity up top, try grass roots..

Think typical college sit in, taking over the Chancellor's office, making demands.......

PS Chancellor; administrative head of a university.

We won't get better as long as one side is constantly being told lies, believes the lies and is willing to act on the lies. The hard part is that there is a whole industry that's dependent and generating and propagating the lies. Ashli Babbitt died believing a lie. Brian Sicknick died protecting us from those lies. When does this stop?

When both sides quit believing they're right and the other's wrong. Objectivity goes further than these never ending bias narratives. Check out the video in post #7. It seems in Utah that BLM and Proud Boys found that they have much in common.

But this isn't a fair analysis. For three years the man held reign on a booming economy yet his personality and crude style was constantly under attack..... Conservative policy is no more evil than liberal policy. Seven days and the man is history and the democrats have their chance to show they can right the ship. Whole point is the man was never given credit for anything positive. He was solidly under attack by the left as well as the media for four years and fact is, he snapped and his legacy will forever be as the leader that instigated a riot. He deserves that legacy, but it cannot be denied that he was never afforded the opportunity to be viewed as anything other than evil incarnate.

Let's just say this one more time just for you. I can't even count how many times now that I have corrected your "booming economy" under Trump statements but what the hell, what's one more time right? I am completely aware that Trump claimed how miraculous the economy was while he was president but here is a bit of reality....HE LIES.....A LOT. And that isn't any kind of revelation but the fact that you keep repeating his lies says a lot about your willingness to go along with an alternate reality. You should probably do some deep self-examination and figure out why you don't bother to do a simple, easy, effortless search of the internet from the countless sources that prove that the economic growth under Trump was in reality not all that different than it was under Obama. In fact, it was just steady average growth at best. Booming? Hell no. But you seem wedded to the idea anyway. I certainly can't make you believe anything you don't want to believe.

    GDP growth 2010 to 2019.JPG

Please point out that booming growth you keep referring to. Heck, I didn't even bother including 2020.

PS You're making Trump the victim in the rest of your statement. He is not a victim. He is the perpetrator.

I don't do charts. I can only tell you that I lived it. Banks were lending money. People were spending money. Construction was growing and unemployment was low. I'll take life experience over pie charts any day. Charts can be manipulated to represent the presenters agenda. It had nothing to do with what the man may have said.

Well, anecdotal personal experiences make a poor rationale for broad unsubstantiated claims which is little more than Donald Trump does on a daily basis. It isn't like you're entitled to your own set of facts here. The GDP is the GDP whether you believe in charts or not.

If the next year proves to be uphill economically, I will sing Joe's praises from the highest mountaintop. You have my word as a gentleman on that. I make no bones about it. Stable income is very important to the other 99% of hard working Americans. I will support our leadership and if they succeed in righting this ship and getting the economy going full speed ahead, I'll support and even vote the man a second term. I voted for Clinton's second term because he understood that simple principal. Believe me, I am cheering Joe on. I have eight families here that are counting on him to do right.

Alas, I think that we have bigger issues to worry about than the economy. We had an insurrection last week. What does the economy matter if civil society falls apart? If we have a bunch of lunatics planning to kidnap and or murder public officials, and make no mistake, the chatter across country is indicating exactly that scenario, we hardly have the luxury of worrying about our economic situation. First things first.

That makes no sense. Go roll another one and try again.....

I am checking out. Enjoyed it here. Seems folks that have ever supported the man are being shut down. I may already have sealed my fate. I have enjoyed my time here and learned a lot. You gentlemen please carry on as I no longer have any political opinions.
