Caught? I think not . . . All that article does is publish unsourced information. Such reporting must be taken with a grain of salt, as it is likely just as unreliable as, past similar reporting. We probably won’t know how factual those claims are before President Trump steps down, and we may never know.

Dear Suckers & Losers Who Pay More Than $750/yr in Taxes:
Donald Trump here. So sorry you had to hear it from the fake media that’s what I paid in taxes in 2016 & 2017. I wanted to tell you myself! And that for 15 out of 20 years, I paid zero! ZERO! That just shows you how smart I am! You want a smart president, right? I screwed the IRS! How ‘bout that! Vote for me and I’ll send you a special instruction booklet on how YOU TOO can be a tax dodger — and you don’t even need bone spurs! Build the Wall! Lock her up! Blame Obama!

The taxes we pay subsidize our military, defense, infrastructure, fema, cdc, NASA, Veterans Adm, and so many other federal federal programs. The taxation is what makes this Country run. That's why it is important that ALL pay into the system. Cant keep avoiding and putting the burden on the working class. Trump is not only a loser but unAmerican.

    1. The New York Times actually does do quality investigative journalism, one of the few places left that do.

    2. Couldn't he clear this up real quick by releasing his returns himself as he's been promising to do for years? That would end the New York Times if it didn't match what they reported.

Unsourced journalism is not quality journalism.

Yes, he could. It’s his prerogative to do so. However, as much as we are interested, it is not our right to know his private finances.

It has a source, just anonymous. That has always been controversial, but they've been good enough in their reporting for years so now they are trusted when they use vetted anonymous sources.

It may be our right though. Not literally, but it would seem foolish to vote for him without him disproving them. Considering he's lying about making deals with foreign governments during his presidency according to the report

Trusted by whom? . . . Those who want the stories to be true?

    Again, according to Anonymous?

On a long-standing record of award winning reporting.

But your post reminds me of the best part of all of this. Trump had a bit of a meltdown earlier when he learned about this from a reporter. He jumped straight into the usual "fake news" "audit" "made up" lines. Purposefully, the NYT didn't actually make the returns public.

He fell into a massive trap by calling the $750 fake on a kneejerk reaction because now all they have to do is publish a few pages of it.

I suspect the trap is in giving the NYT a plausible excuse for publishing just a few pages . . . it would allow them to cherry-pick the very worst of what may be a rather milquetoast discovery . . . probably exactly what they wanted.

    That's right up liberal alley . . .

The stable genius strikes again. No need to publish anything when he confirms the validity of their documents himself. From 10 minutes ago on Twitter:

More seriously FD, beside the taxes I pay on my income from my full-time job, do you really think I would be dumb enough to not pay taxes on profits generated from the sale of coins, many of which contain precious metals, and have my bank asking the pertinent questions? I am completely above board with all transactions, and am not exactly hiding money made on the side, unlike so many Americans who get paid exclusively in cash for working under the table, selling treasures found dumpster-diving/ yard-saling, moonshining, landscaping, dealing drugs, cutting cordwood, selling Christmas trees, running guns, performing taxidermy, growing / selling pot, smuggling illegals, doing body work, renting rooms in their homes, chartering fishing trips, prostitution, you name it.

Uncle Sam sees every dollar I make, and has taken what feels like an unfair share every year, unlike so many tax cheats who pretend to be low income earners, making incomes which go completely untaxed because they are not even declared.

You want a more fair system? Look around, and stop insisting that those already abiding by the tax laws pay what others should be paying. There are many pretending to be low income who simply aren't . . . and many of them.

First, all this is based on reports from “anonymous sources” which means it doesn’t mean squat. It’s like the military hero “suckers” comment attributed to Trump. You could sit on your computer, write the comment, and give it to the New York Times based on nothing. You are an “anonymous source.”

If this is true, which it may very well be, the information was obtained illegally. No one has the right to look at other people’s tax returns without their consent or a court order. Since no court order has been obtained, the “anonymous source” broke the law.

If you don’t like what Trump did, change the tax code. The system is full of these provisions that allow people to avoid taxes legally. Trump may be using the loss carryover provisions, in part. I’ve done that, because I had stock market losses to that too high to claim in a single year. You have to offset them against gains or take very limited amounts ($2,000 or so) as a deduction from your adjusted gross income.

If his accountants are using the tax code, it’s legal. If you don’t like the fact that he used the tax code to his advantage, don’t vote for him.

I don’t like the fact that Biden used his influence as vice president to help his son get rich. That’s one of many reasons why I am not voting for him.

I'm probably still blocked, but as I posted earlier, Trump claimed the info was obtained illegally. This implies it's true, especially since the documents used in the report were not released publicly.

Among things of greatest concern here, he is over 1 billion dollars in debt, including 200 million to the Chinese government due in 2022.

Also hiring Ivanka as an independent consultant for hotels she was already managing through the Trump organization. They then used the independent consultant fees as a tax write off.

Claiming property tax as a personal expense to get around the $10000 cap on property taxes and instead claim over 2 million.

    The list goes on...

This is not unheard of . . . Bernie Sanders did this.

Lots of rich folks do that . . . probably many of the celebs who own ridiculous amounts of outrageously extravagant real estate.
