Yes, he blurts out some nonsensical statements before he's given the subjects some contemplation but no actions have been taken or directives given which constitute treason. American illness and death are inevitable. We do show higher numbers than other nations, but myopically focusing on the US numbers alone conceals some important considerations. The disproportionately high ratio of COVID cases to COVID deaths in the US does point to over-reporting of cases in the health care industry, likely from liberals wanting to make Trump look incompetent on this issue (I'm not saying he's doing everything right, but it's not helpful to exacerbate the problem). Take France and Sweden, for instance. Both have much lower statistics for cases per million (2972 & 8069 respectively) but not deaths per million (464 & 570 respectively), as compared with 15018 US Cases per million and 488 deaths per million. Looking at the ratios (6.40 for France, 14.2 for Sweden and 30.8 for the USA), I'd deduce that there's a reporting problem . . . either here in the States, or in other nations, or both. In any case, I don't find the raw numbers to which liberals point so vociferously all that believable. Just as importantly, Americans are probably the most mobile and most socially active society on the face of the Earth, and may reasonably be expected to spread the virus more readily than inhabitants of other nations. Finally, America was already a nation full of medicated sick people. I can't stand it, but let's face it, we are a pill-popping nation. Going into this pandemic, we likely had so many more citizens on life-extending-treatments and medications than other nations that we were inherently more vulnerable than citizens of those nations who were not already living beyond their natural demise. America should be predisposed to more deaths from cases of COVID. I do believe in numbers, but I also believe in parsing them to make sure they reflect reality. By the way, I recall seeing news reports from multiple liberal media outlets extolling Sweden's approach to handling the virus . . . curious, isn't it, that their numbers aren't really all that great? Treason? Try again . . .
Not on the topic of mail in voting, yet. Though he is threatening lawsuits against states using mail in voting while simultaneously praising others for using it. So, give it time. Ah, the conspiracy theories begin. I've got a secret, there is actually a secret plan the liberals are using to make Trump look bad. Operation "Let him speak" has been going swimmingly. It's especially effective when followed by operation "quote him verbatim" I'm not really understanding what you're saying here, but it's either the numbers or gut feelings we have to go on... So I think the choice is obvious. Also some of the least densely populated. If people would be responsible and wear masks/limit leaving the house, much of this could have been avoided. totally disagree with this, there's plenty of nations that have better access to modern medicine than we do (thanks to socialized healthcare) and have much higher average age of citizens than we do. Who was extolling them? They basically had the same plan we did, they just formalized it rather than never having a plan.
Yes, give it time . . . I expect him to back off of his insistence that Florida is a model to preserve, and advocate for everyone voting in person, Floridians included. Ultimately, I think we'll instead end up with mailed ballots in all states, and a protracted court battle over the results of an election gone bad. I look at the numbers analytically, and you accuse me of parroting Donald Trump? The simple fact that I can arrive at the same conclusion as him via what I presume to be a different process does not make me a blind adherent of his methodology or beliefs. Sorry but, after reading what I wrote, and you responding as you did, you do not paint yourself an objective person. You're not here to find middle ground . . . you only want to drag conservatives kicking and screaming into your progressive nightmare. You obviously don't like them, but the numbers speak very clearly, and contradict left wing claims. Hardly an effective argument in my example, given that France does have higher population density than the USA (122/sq mi vs. 93/sq mi), but Sweden's is substantially lower (64/sq mi). Be careful not to omit complicit liberals from this statement. My observation is that both sides are in equal violation of the guidelines on this count. I practice very consistently, but many are dismissive of the encouraged safeguards, to the detriment of the rest of society . . . most of those appearing to be of your generation. I'm talking about the huge numbers of Americans who, going into this crisis already lived with diabetes, lung disease, heart disease, kidney disease, AIDS, cancers, with many of those ailments being self-inflicted. I'm generalizing here, but while foreigners doubtless have their health issues to contend with, I think Mother Nature abroad is far less unkind than indulgent Americans are to themselves.
I hope he backs down on Florida, or at least makes a more unified non-partisan stance. If it does get tied up in courts, I guess thank you all for President Pelosi.
Good setup for a hard-line Republican president . . . one month with Pelosi in the driver's seat, and America will be begging for Newt Gingrich.
Stuck? You mean like liberals being stuck in 5th gear headed down a one way track with Thelma & Louise? Sadly, you won't know your destination is NowheresVille until you get there and can't come back.
Not as stuck as you'll soon be when John Durham summarizes Obamagate for the nation just before the election.
You already know I’m not a Donald Trump fan, but I’ll come right out and state that if you believe that claim, you’re not as smart as I thought. Most of those lost to COVID were undoubtedly the elderly, and therefore conservatives. That is absolutely not to Trump’s political advantage, and he knows that. Do not think for a moment that the President is “letting Americans die”. He is letting them exercise their free choice as Americans, and relying upon them to make good choices. COVID will spread further, and more Americans will die as the result of poor decisions made by irresponsible college age carriers than liberals will ever voluntarily acknowledge. But because the liberal narrative depends on an alternative perspective, all it will discuss is Trump and his alleged complicity.
Oh I'm pretty unhappy with the college students right now, don't you worry. That post you quoted was specifically referring to the attempt to stop mail-in-voting as instrumental in causing post election spikes in cases. This is especially dangerous because older people or people living with older people will all have to go to community gathering centers to vote. The "political advantage" refers to stopping mail in votes, and if hindered, will see Americans die. Any president should be doing everything in their power to mitigate needless death. This was clarified in a few posts after the one you quoted here
A friend of mine's father just died of Covid and his spouse is hanging on and deathly ill with it. But yeah, toss your masks and call it a hoax.
