I didn't get in from work until very late last night and was stunned by the news. However I was even further stunned that even at a moment in time where American lives were at serious risk... Even then we as a nation couldn't find it within ourselves to rally around our leader. Is the hate really this visceral? If the time were 1940 and President Trump eliminated Joseph Goebbels would the left then be sympathetic to the German leadership? Have we really deteriorated to this?

Right? Now I was just reading in the news that the low-class pinhead Michael Moore has apologized to Iran on behalf of the American people. What a complete moron.

Seems like any proud American would be a bit tired of apologizing to the world for being a proud and successful nation. It's rather like expecting Tom Brady to apologize to the NFL for being a nearly unbeatable quarterback.

My wife tonight showed me the Facebook page that belongs to Ms. Ilhan Omar. I refuse to call her her Representative..... I am sorry. You are an elected congresswoman. You are NOT a representative of our enemies. You are a representative of the American electorate. I am quite serious. This woman should be arrested for treason. I am absolutely stunned. How did we elect our enemy to represent us???

The sorry part is, she's not the only one. We should all be embarrassed. These people do not represent the portion of people that I know (a.k.a. The deplorables, The real world, etc.).

I'm a little confused by your incredulous response. You already know what the "Left" thinks of Trump. You think somehow that everyone should just fall in line behind the moron that not only tore up a ligitimate multi-country agreement with Iran but than proceeded to harrass Iran agressively both miltarily and with sanctions, then assassinated one of their top Generals for no reason that they can explain, and you still think the other side of the aisle should blindly follow this idiot straight off a cliff into war? I have to ask if you've been paying attention the last three years or so or is your current indignation really just a way to deflect the conversation away from the fact that there is absolutely no strategy whatsoever behind this Administration's foreign policy? Because if there is a strategy here, no one seems to be able to articlate it including the Administration. If you think you can explain it, it would be much more helpful here than simply attacking a Muslim Congresswoman.

Well Joe.... A couple of things. Just what business does an Iranian general have at the Baghdad airport? Yes, I concede that our business in Iraq is done and we don't need to be there. Sadly, thousands of young Americans gave their lives for this failure. Trump didn't put us there. He inherited the problem. But here's the crux of the thing. Iran is absolutely the home base of terrorism in the world. I don't care what your faith is, terrorism is heinous and unacceptable in a civilized world. This Iranian general did in fact instigate and support an attack on an American embassy. Again, a deplorable and entirely unacceptable act. He didn't attack soldiers. He attacked unarmed diplomats. You may as well attack your kids school! The man received his just rewards...... And make no mistake. I am not attacking a Muslim congresswoman. I am attacking a representative of the United States. She was elected and accepts compensation to represent the United States. Not Iran. Her diatribe is treasonous. Period.

You do realize this is an effort to prevent them from achieving nuclear proliferation don't you? The Ayatollah armed with nuclear tipped missiles is more of a world danger than Hitler armed with them.

Are you serious? I am beginning to think that you're a fledgling comedian. If you are serious, then the first sentence of this post I think is inaccurate in the sense that I feel you're more than "a little confused".

And I’ll offer this as a challenge. Go and find a service member that did their service in ordinance disposal. Or better yet, find one of the young Americans that sacrificed limbs to IED devices. And ask them one simple question..... Where did those heinous weapons come from. Yes, improvised explosive devices happened to be a favorite pet project of this Iranian general. What a guy, huh?

I'd still challenge anyone here to articulate the Iran policy the Trump Administration is following. What exactly is the strategy here?

To prevent nuclear proliferation by an unstable regime.

By ripping up the only nuclear agreement?

That would be the one. The same agreement that Iran has violated since day one.

100 percent false. They not only abided by the terms of the agreement but were inspected and found to be compliant. They even continued to be compliant for a time after Trump pulled us out of the agreement and only said the hell with it after Trump started harrassing them. We are the agressors in this situation and by we I mean Trump. Iran even showed restraint in that they informed us that a missle strike was coming hours before. Trump is playing with fire. He has no god damn idea what he is doing.

Nope.... they had exceeded their cap on low grade uranium. They had also ramped up production of advanced centrifuges. Both in violation and directly tied to ramping up production of nuclear weapons. Sorry Joe. I always said the truth lies somewhere in between the left/right leaning news programs. The ayatollah used the Obama ransom money to ramp up his nuclear production as well as his terrorizing ambitions. Heck, they were chanting, “death to America” while they unloaded the Obama cash. I’m sorry, but swearing at the man doesn’t change the fact that he was correct in his actions. Our families are safer today because of it.

edit.... I just saw the report that Iran now has admitted they fired on the Ukrainian jetliner. This regime has no place in a civilized world. Oh yeah, Iran certainly holds the moral high ground.

I'm sorry MD. That is just false. I have no doubt it was said and you heard it but it is still false.

Nobody has cited any sources here, which I suppose isn't surprising. Before Trump withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), his administration had acknowledged that Iran was in compliance, while "defying its spirit." At the time that Trump withdrew from the JCPOA, the International Atomic Energy Agency said that Iran had committed no violations of the agreement, beyond "minor infractions that were rectified." The agreement was succeeding in its main goal of keeping Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

No actual Facebook post from Representative Omar has been cited as justification for the accusation of treason. Maybe that's due to technical inability, or maybe it's because the accusation is based on weak sauce. I do know that in the right wing bubble, a false claim about her statements has been circulating.

Soleimani had blood on his hands, including the blood of US citizens. However, there was a very real possibility that killing him would start yet another bloody interminable war in the Middle East. It's not as if the fanatical Shiite regime in Iran is known for its wisdom and restraint.

So far, a war between Iran and the US has been avoided, but that's no guarantee that war will not happen. The supposed justification for the killing has not been verified, and the Trump administration story about that justification has been changing. The briefing given to the Senate regarding the justification was apparently unsatisfactory. This indicates that the move was foolhardy and the justification given was thin to non-existent. It seems entirely possible that Trump ordered the killing with his own political gain in mind, rather than the security of the United States. Both The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times have reports indicating this. War is not something to be played with--the case justifying an act that could very likely bring a country to war should be iron clad. What has been presented by the Trump administration doesn't meet that criterion.

I am sorry fellows. A brazen attack on an unarmed embassy IS an act of war. These are unarmed Americans with families like ours. Rest assured, an attack on my family would cost somebody his life. So let’s get real here... Had President Trump attacked the Iranian embassy without provocation, he would have been run out on rails. What should we have done otherwise? Mailed them another billion and given them hugs and flowers? Come on fellows. An American embassy was attacked by a brutal thug. He paid with his life. Kum-by-ya.
